Halloween with Dr. Reid

Chapter 2: October 1st

You got up early and changed out the decor of the fish tank after rinsing them under warm water. You started to make a pancake breakfast. Spencer woke up to the scent and followed it to the kitchen.

"Mornin' Spence!" You said cheerfully.

"Morning. What are you doing up so early?"

"Making breakfast, silly."

He smiled, drowsy. "I see that but why?"

"We have to eat." You let out a small laugh. "It's October! Happy early Halloween!"

His drowsy smile widened as he realized it was only 30 day until Halloween!

"Happy Halloween!" He gave you a peck on the lips.

"Can you do me a favor?"

"Anything."

"Can you feed the fish? They were looking at me hungrily a few minutes ago."

"Sure." He walked back toward the fish tank, food in hand. He shook some flakes into the tank. "Hey! Where did these come from?"

"Where did what come from?" You asked from the kitchen trying to picture his reaction. 

"The Halloween decorations!"

"Oh, I don't know. A little Halloween fairy I guess. I hope you stopped shaking the food jar." He jumped a bit and set the jar down. 

"They look great in the tank! Even our fish love Halloween!"

"I had a feeling you'd like them."

"Oh, I don't like them... I love them!" You both laughed. 

"So, what are you making for breakfast?"

"Pancakes."

"Yum." He closed his eyes and inhaled deeply to take in more of the smell. 

"I'm almost done. Go wash your hands."

"Yes Ma'am." He walked to the bathroom and washed his hands. When he returned, you were setting plates on the table. He saw the syrup in the kitchen, so he took it to the table. He put the syrup on the table in the few empty places on the small table. He looked at the plates. 

"You made pancakes in the shapes of pumpkins?"

"Yep. Just for you."

"How?" He asked excitedly.

"Have you forgotten that I have my creative ways of doing things, especially with food?" He laughed and sat down across from you. 

"How did you make the pumpkin orange and the stem green?"

"I put orange food coloring in the pancake batter and green food coloring in the whipped cream. 

"They look amazing!"

"Thank you." 

"You're welcome. Thank you." He looked up from his plate to look at you.

"You're welcome." 

"They look too good to eat..."

"Well, I didn't make them for you to look at Spence. Eat up." You said as you spread the triangle-shaped butter eyes and nose atop your pancakes. Spencer did the same. He could already tell that this Halloween was going to be the best!
