Chapter 7

I had lost all hope in Ty after his stupid text. He was a d-bag and I just had to accept it. He could be as sleazy and disgusting as he wanted. As long as he didn't act sleazy towards me, I was fine. It was his life. If he wanted to screw it up, that was his problem.

Ashton arranged for me to meet his friends that also happened to be super heroes and I was pretty excited. I mean, they could have been extremely attractive. Plus, Ashton already explained that they were interested in me. You never know what could happen. It was also important to meet his friends because then I could be accepted by them and hang out with them during the summer or something. If I was accepted by them, Ashton wouldn't have to sneak around or anything. Hopefully, there wouldn't be any trouble.

When the fateful Saturday came, I was freaking out. I wanted to make a good impression on Ashton's friends. This was important to me and Ashton and I didn't want to mess it up. I pulled on some jeans, a My Chem shirt, and a hat, hoping I was presentable. I was fixing my hat when I heard a knock on the window. I pulled back the curtains and saw Ashton's lopsided grin. Pushing the window up, I said, "Do you know how dangerous that is?"

"Meh," he replied, waving it off. I rolled my eyes at him and went on.

"Do I look okay?"

"You look fabulous, now let's go," he sighed, not even looking at me.

"You suck," I muttered. "Now get down," He started climbing down as I closed the window. I ran down the stairs and yelled something about seeing a friend to my mother and left, walking away with Ashton towards the bus stop.

My hands shook as I walked up the steps to the apartment that Ashton shared with his friends. Ashton noticed my nervousness and lightly rubbed my shoulder reassuringly.

"You'll be fine," he whispered. I nodded and took a deep breath. Ashton unlocked the door and entered, dragging me along. "Hey, guys! I'm back and I brought company! Are you all decent?"

"Maybe!" I heard someone shout. I giggled as Ashton rolled his eyes and sighed.

"You can take your shoes off if you want," Ash muttered as he shrugged off his jacket. I nodded and did the same, relaxing slightly. A blonde guy jogged down the stairs quickly, wanting to see who came. He stopped and looked at me, mouth hanging open just barely. He wore skinny black jeans and a Nirvana shirt. His hair was styled up and his eyes were icy.

"Hi," I greeted. "I'm Kristen, but you can call me Kris," He nodded, but didn't respond. "... And you are...?" I asked. He didn't say anything. Ashton walked over and discreetly shoved him, trying to get him to talk.

"Oh, right," the blonde kid said. "Um, it's Luke," He turned to Ashton. "You said she was okay, you didn't say she was hot," I blushed and another guy came down the stairs. He had black hair and big, brown eyes. His red plaid shirt was open to reveal a grey shirt and his jeans must have been cutting off his circulation.

"You didn't say she was fit, either," he smiled as he took my hand and kissed it. "Hi, I'm Calum,"

"Kris," I responded, face reddening even more. "It's nice to meet you,"

"Oh, believe me," he said. "The pleasure is all mine," A thumping of feet down the stairs brought my attention to a black and red haired boy who was hastily pulling up his pants. His hair was spiked and he wore a Blink 182 shirt with blue jeans.

"Who's this?" he asked Ashton, looking at me suspiciously.

"She's Kris," Luke said.

"Ohhh," the guy nodded. He then turned to me. "We've heard a lot about you. Ashton never stops talking about you," Ashton elbowed him and my face heated up even more, if that was possible. "My name is Michael," he grunted. "Michael Clifford," I nodded, feeling slightly embarrassed.

"It's really nice to meet all of you," I told them.

"Well, now that you've met her, we can go," Ashton quickly said.

"But we just got here!" I whined.

"Yeah, she just got here!" Luke agreed. "Can't she hang out just a little while longer?" Ashton sighed.

"Fine, but only for a little while," he reasoned. The boys led me further into the house, past the kitchen and into what I assumed was the living room. Pizza boxes and red Solo cups were strewn about, making me watch where I stepped. The boys all sat on a long couch together and I sat at a rocking chair across from them, feeling extremely awkward. I didn't exactly know what to do. I thought Ashton would sit with me, but that obviously wasn't gonna happen.

"So, Kristen," Luke started. "How'd you meet Ashton?"

"Well, actually, he saved me from this psychopath Fallen Angel or something," When I said that, the guys started hitting Ashton and asking if he blew his cover. "Guys?" I called to get their attention. When thy finally looked at me, I went on. "I asked him to tell me his name after we hung out for a week or so because I hated calling him Smash, no one had heard of you guys yet, and I didn't really have anyone to reveal your secret identity to. I didn't see the problem," They sat in thought for a second before Michael spoke up.

"I guess that's alright, then," The other guys agreed with him by nodding their heads.

"But if you tell anyone, I'll skin you alive!" Calum exclaimed.

"Alright, alright, I get it," I said. "No need to get your panties in a twist,"

"Anyway," Ashton went on. "How about we do something else other than interrogate Kris?"

"One more question," Michael promised. "Are you single?"

"Yea..?" I squinted at him, not sure why he would ask if he already knew. He simply nodded and got up, heading for the kitchen.

"I'm starving. Anybody want anything?" he called. When everyone said no, he went on, digging into the fridge.

I spent the rest of my time there laughing at Michael's dumb jokes, listening to Calum's purposely horrid singing, and catching Luke staring at me. No matter how many movies we watched, no matter how much Ash yelled, we could not get them to shut up.

Ashton took me home afterwards, making up an excuse that it was late and dark and I shouldn't be alone when I had full access to a GPS and it was only 7:30. When we got to my house, he walked me to the door.

"I'm sorry about... well, them," he apologized, rubbing the nape of his neck.

"It's alright. I had a lot of fun," I told him.

"Well, would you want to hang out again sometime maybe?" Ashton was avoiding my gaze, finding his shoes more interesting than anything else.

"Sure," I exclaimed. "Sounds like fun," He smiled and looked up at me.

"Really?" I nodded at him. "Alright," he sighed, grinning. Before I opened the door to go inside, Ashton leaned in and gave me a quick peck on the lips before jogging down the steps and onto the sidewalk. I felt my face heat up as he disappeared into the sunset.

Well. That was interesting.
