Chapter 6

Ashton came pretty regularly after that. He seemed to enjoy being with me, I was just happy that I had someone to talk to. He actually cared about what I would talk about. He listened like Tyson would, but he would give me advice and respond. Tyson would just nod and change the subject. The more I was with Ashton, the more I realized that Tyson wasn't a real friend. Tyson wouldn't treat me as well as Ash would. Ashton was a gentleman, Tyson was a pig.

I would still see Tyson at school with new girls all over him, but it didn't hurt as much anymore. I mean, it sucked that he went completely against everything I told him, but it was life. He could do whatever the hell he wanted. I didn't care about him anymore. Sometimes, though, I think about all of the times we had together. Almost 4 years I spent with him. Hanging out. Doing homework. Just talking. All of that time wasted. I could have doing so many other things. I even blew off some of my other friends for him. I could have gone to the mall and acted like an actual teenager, but no. He was my top priority. It's like I was obsessed with him. It was unhealthy, really.

Once I realized how horrible it was to be with Tyson, school started going better. I wasn't depressed anymore, which was a huge relief. Being with Ashton was probably the best thing that could've happened to me. I was eating, my scars were fading, and I wasn't going to school looking homeless. I actually cared again. I was getting better.

Ashton and I began hanging out every day after school. We were regular best friends. I couldn't help but think he was replacing Tyson which wasn't the point of being friends with him. We were supposed to be friends to enjoy each other's company. I would push the thought away, only to emerge stronger the next time it would come up. I hated it being that way. I never brought it up to Ash in fear of losing him, too.

I was in my room after school on my laptop when I felt the bed on my right lower a bit.

"Whatch'ya doing?" Ashton asked. I quickly closed my laptop.

"I didn't hear you come in,"

"You left your window open," he grinned. Ashton wouldn't wear his suit to my room anymore (Thank God!). Instead, he started dressing like a normal teenager. I rolled my eyes at him.

"At least knock," I pushed him playfully. "I could have been changing my clothes or something!"

"But you weren't,"

"Just make some noise when you come in, please," I laughed.

"Oh, like this?" He closed his eyes and started making sexual noises, causing me to blush and cover his mouth.

"Stop! My brother might hear you!" Surprisingly, my brother hadn't found out about Ash hanging out in my room, and neither had my mother.

"You said to make noise so..." he chuckled, taking my hand off of his mouth. "Anyway, back to my original question, what are you doing?"

"Talking to you, obviously," I said in a duh tone. Ashton sighed and leaned back onto the wall behind my bed.

"I had an idea,"

"Oh, God, not again," I teased.

"Do you want to meet my friends sometime?" he offered.

"I guess so, I mean, they're just your friends," I said coolly. "They're not your parents or anything,"

"Yeah, I suppose..." he trailed off. I opened up my laptop again and began scrolling. "I was just thinking that you would want to meet them because they've been asking and stuff,"

"What have they been asking about?" I browsed through my tumblr, half-listening to Ash as he kept talking.

"Well, they've been asking about why I'm not there sometimes to help with crimes and stuff and I told them about you and now they wanna meet you and they were asking if we were dating and I said no of course and now the guys are interested and they just want to meet you," he rambled. I stopped my internet journey and looked at him.
