I slipped out of the curtain, and swiftly ran down the hall, light on my feet as I gave a high-pitched screech. I stopped, as heavier footsteps followed me. I turned around.

“Freddy, please! This is my one chance, can’t I own this moment?” I pleaded, flicking my ear quickly. Freddy gave a taut, rusted head shake, and popped a cocky smile.

“You’re still to young.” He grumbled. I huffed. I was tired of this. I wanted a chance. A chance to prove myself. Geez, could I at least have that?

Apparently not. I wasn't good enough. I growled. Suddenly, the door slammed behind us. Freddy gave an agitated growl.

“See, you’re useless! He sought us out, heard us, and closed the door.”

“Don’t worry!” I replied. “The power will go out soon. And then you’ll get the spotlight… like usual.” I said.

Suddenly, Freddy swung his fist forward, grabbed me by my neck and lifted me.

“Listen to me, you hear girl!” He began, as I lashed my tail, frightened. I was never usually frightened, unless Freddy was mad. He was more than mad this time. “I am tired of you’re griping and complaining. You do it all the time!”

Suddenly, there was a beep, and the lights shut off. The doors flung open, and Freddy dropped me. I stumbled to the floor. This was Bonnie’s entrance. I loved watching him play that music box. Freddy slowly walked to the door, and I rushed to see Bonnie in the other hallway. He began spinning the crank on the side of his rusty old music box. I bobbed my head. I stood up and walked over the window. I looked through to the inside of the room to see Freddy slowly walk in. I could hear the newest security guard, Mike, whimpering through the glass. It went silent a moment. Then , Freddie’s eyes lit up and there was a screech. He jumped on Mike, knocking him out.

That was the it. We had to do the dirty work while Freddy basked in Victory. Freddy didn’t do any of the stuffing, we did all of that. People believed he did it one his own, and it would always stay that way. He got credit and we played him as we worked the body into a suit. It was quite boring. After doing it a number of years, it lost its thrill. I didn’t do anything tonight, and when you don’t contribute anything its even more boring. I barely ever contributed and the others poked fun at me. They teased me, telling me I was to kind to hurt anyone. Maybe they just wouldn’t give me a chance!

“Foxy” I heard a rusty peep. I turned to see Chica. “Come one, we have to start stuffing.” She said. I gave a nod. My stomach contorted into a knot. Darn! Tonight was my night to do the face stuffing. I hated that job. I liked being evil I guess, but I hated doing to face.

We just barely made the time limit. We had just finished forcing the body into the suit when the clock chimed six. We all hurriedly ran to our spots, standing stiff in out positions. I could move all I needed if I wanted, but I had a tendency to make a lot of noise. So, even if I was unseen, I would be spotted if I moved. I was rusty, so I creaked with every movement.

But, by all the racket the kids made I was surprised I wasn’t covered by their screeches when my bones creaked with movement. I flicked my tail, and peeked out the curtain as the sun began to peek through the glass door. The orange lit tinted the room ahead. I sighed, as I looked to the stage. Man, I missed that thing. I missed the light and the admiration of the kids. Bonnie looked at me from the other side of the room and nodded. I nodded back and heaved a sigh. Bonnie and Chica were like my older brother and sister. They treated me well. Freddy was like out father, but an abusive one at that. He had a tendency to abuse us. He was not headed.

So, me Bonnie and Chica treated each other like family. We were all each other had. I was the unfortunate one. I was last installed, and first to go.

Suddenly, squeals sounded as a bell rang. That was a notification the door opened. A wave of about eight kids came in, starting off the long day ahead. Ugh, I hated my job. I wondered what it was like to be a human. What was it like? Less artificial? The only thing I knew was If I ever had the chance I would become human, no matter what it took.
