I'm Sorry I was scared

Chapter 13

The house was now complete and both Rory and Lorelai had come to love the new look and layout of the Independence Inn grounds.

It's been a year now since Rory and Logan got married, they are still living in Palo Alto in a newly purchased bigger house. Rory just found out she's expecting and both Logan and her are ecstatic. They are planning to tell Lorelai and the rest when they come to Palo Alto to visit the new house in a couple weeks.

One night a couple days before everyone was coming to visit Rory got a call from Richard. She was surprised to get his called, but happy that he reached out.

Ring, Ring

"Hello?" Rory answered the phone

"Hello Rory, how are you?" Richard asked

"Hi Grandpa, I'm good and you?" Rory asked

"I'm well thank you, how are you liking it down there in California? How is work going?" Richard asked

"Work is going good, and I really am loving the warmer weather down here." Rory said

"Well, that is good, I'm glad. I don't know what happened between you and your grandmother, but I really miss you Rory and hope I haven't done anything to make you mad either." Richard said

"Oh grandpa, no. You haven't done anything at all, grandma just can be a little much and I don't think she understands how I can't just drop everything and fly back home every time. I also don't want or need her meddling in my love life either. She had some particular words to say after I turned Logan down. I love you both so much, and I am grateful for all that you have done for me through the years, but sometimes she's a little much. I never really meant to cut you out, I've been really busy since moving here and sometimes I just don't have the energy to talk or fight with grandma about how much I communicate or how often I visit." Rory said

"Well, I'm glad I haven't done anything. I understand how your grandmother can be sometimes. I think she means well but shows it in a different way. I understand moving and starting a new job and trying to meet everyone's demands is difficult, especially when your grandmother comes calling. I just hope we can have little talks sometimes." Richard said

"Sure grandpa, I'd like that. How about we set up weekly calls?" Rory asked

"That would be great dear, I will look forward to them. I'll let you go for know and talk to you soon." Richard said

"Ok, sounds good. Bye grandpa." Rory said

"Bye Rory." Richard said

"So, how was the call?" Logan asked

"It was good, I hadn't meant to cut him out so much but grandma has been really pushing to set me up and come up for all of these events. She's driving me a little crazy." Rory said

"I bet, what is it up to now like 2 twice a month?" Logan asked

"Worse, couple weeks ago she left a message for me saying that I was need for some dates, I check and it was 3 weekends in a row. I don't think she understands that we live across the country. Its not like living in Hartford or New York where its in the same vicinity." Rory said

"Oh wow, That's crazy. California definitely isn't in the same vicinity as Hartford." Logan said

"Right! I just can't wait for everyone to see the new house and tell them about the new addition. I'm really happy that we got the house on the Inn grounds finished early. Now we can get it decorated before little one comes along." Rory said

"I'm happy about that too, I was thinking about that the other day too. I have a question though, I don't think we thought about yet. Where do you want to have the baby, here or there?" Logan asked

"Definitely here, I don't want anyone that shouldn't know catching wind or seeing us there. Mom will have to come here and I'm sure Colin, Finn and Steph won't mind either." Rory said

"I'm glad you think that, I didn't want for anyone to catch wind and ruin the moment, but I was thinking about it because everyone is over there and it would maybe be better for you, but I'm happy to have the baby here without any unexpected surprises popping up." Logan said

"Definitely not wanting any of that when welcoming little one into the world." Rory said
