Chapter 02:
3rd person «Louis»

Louis rose from his bed, dressing himself, and leaving his small bedroom.

"Dais, Phebes, you awake?" Louis knocked at his sisters door. Nobody answered so he assumed they were still asleep, so he opened the door.

"Rise and shine," Louis spoke softly, sitting down on the side of the bed, stroking his 8 year old's sister's hair out of her face.

"A bit longer?" Phoebe whispered, covering her eyes as Louis pulled the blanket down from the window, which was keeping the sun from shining through. There was a whole fixed by tape in the top that had broken a few weeks ago.

"No love, you can't be late again," Louis reminded her, tugging at her blankets a bit. He walked over to their small closet, taking two outfits out for them both.

"Come on you two, I have to somehow get Lots and Fizz out of bed," Louis said, placing the two dresses on both of their beds. Phoebe slowly sat up, and walked into the bathroom across the hall to brush her teeth and comb her hair. Daisy shortly following her into the one tiny bathroom the family shared.

"Thank you," Louis smiled at them, walking out of the room, making his way to the other bedroom.

"You two awake?" He said as he peeked in the room.

"Yeah," Lottie and Fizzy said synchronized, both crowding around the closet in seek for something to wear.

"Lou, it's stuck again..." Phoebe spoke softly, standing at the doorway of her two older sisters room. Louis turned around and picked the tiny girl up, carrying her to his room, and placing her on his bed.

"Your hair is getting so long Phebes, you gotta be more careful love," Louis said while combing gently through Phoebe's hair in a knot. Once untangled, she jumped down from the bed and ran across the creaky wooden floors into her room.

After Louis' father left because of his drug addiction, Louis' mother took care of them. Until she left as well once Louis was 16 and able to take care of his sisters. She kicked them all out of the house, including the 7 year old twins and the 11 and 14 year old girls. Louis worked to raise enough money to buy the cheapest house he could find, with the help of Lottie, who was babysitting every weekend for £5 an hour. Louis works at a bar downtown, even though he is not 18 yet, the owner desperately needed workers, so he hired Louis without asking.

Whenever Louis gets a paycheck, he puts half of it in his savings, and uses the rest to buy groceries, and something special for his sisters.

He is still in high school, and he plans to keep it that way unless he really needs the money. He wants to be able to get a good education and maybe a career to be able to make the best life for his siblings.

Louis lines up the small cups of orange juice, and bowls of cereal along the counter.

"Do we have everything?" The crew nods, "Homework? Books? Money for lunch?"

"Oh I'm running low, I think I went under," Fizzy spoke, Louis then checked his back pocket and found twenty pounds, handed it to Fizzy and asked if anybody else was running out.

After Louis shut all the lights off, and left the house with his sisters.

They all walk to school everyday, he doesn't have nearly enough money for the house and the car, but walking is just fine, the primary school is only a few blocks away, and the middle school is next to the high school.

"Stay safe," Louis said as Daisy and Phoebe both hugged him goodbye once at their school. Louis waved and they wandered into the doors.

A few minutes of walking went by until Lottie spoke up.

"Lou, how's it going?" She said, referring money wise. Louis looked at her, smiled and nodded his head.

"Good actually," he lied, he hates when people are worried about him, as he hates sharing his feelings.

"I'm glad," Lottie smiled.

Before they knew it, they reached Fizzy and Lottie's school, and they left with a simple bye.

Louis started down the street towards his school, seeing a bunch of teens socializing with friends.

As he walks up the stairs to the main entrance, he trips over another foot, causing him to fall back down the two stairs behind him.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there," Louis apologized, but then looked up to meet eyes with the black haired boy. His name was Zayn, and was the school's biggest drug dealer. Louis shrunk at the sight of his eyes glaring at him.

"It's okay," Zayn smiled, offering him a hand to help Louis up.

Louis screeched in pain mentally as the boy squeezed his hand way too tight for his liking. Louis shook it off when Zayn turned around.

"Follow me Lou," Louis was confused with the nickname only his sisters used. Louis stepped into the boy's tracks and followed him to the side of the building. That's when his suspension grew.

"Hey, what are-" Without letting Louis finish, Zayn was already slamming Louis' back against the brick wall. Louis screeched physically this time because of the pain in his back.

"That's what you deserve you fag," Louis frowned at the words coming out of Zayn's mouth. Yes, he was gay, but there wasn't anything wrong with it. He mentally rolled his eyes, he should've expected this, he's always been bullied, ever since he was 8, for having an addict as a father.

"You know what else you deserve?" Zayn asked, laughing while pulling up Louis' sleeves, and pulling a small pocket knife out of his pocket. Louis shrunk to the weapon that was in front of him as he tried running away, but a strong grip got a hold of his arm. He then tried to scream for help, but Zayn pressed the knife against his throat, threatening him. Louis swallowed after the sharp object left its hover over his neck. Zayn then started carving into Louis' forearm, spelling 'fag' in all capital letters. Louis winced at the blade with tears streaming down his face.

"That's what you deserve," Zayn smiled after putting the knife back into his back pocket. He then kicked Louis' leg, causing him to fall onto the ground. Zayn soon left smirking, like he was proud of what he did.

Louis sat there against the wall, crying, with his hand gripping his arm attempting to ease the pain. He grabbed the gym shirt from his bag, and wiped the blood dripping down his arm. His soft sobs filled the air around him, he wiped his eyes, and looked at the time. 7:29. He had 10 minutes to get to class, so he got up, pulled his sleeve carefully over his one arm, and held the end of the sleeves there.

Louis walked out from the side of the building, pulling his hood up from behind his head. He placed his earbuds in his ears, and hit play to his favorite, Steve Aoki. He tugged at his sleeves, making sure they do not crawl up his arms somehow. He locked his eyes with the ground the rest of the school day, not to make eye contact with anybody but his reflection.
