Norman felt like something was taken from him at that moment. He knew something like this would happen at some point in time but he didn't prepare his heart as he didn't expect this to happen so early on. His brows start to slightly furrow at the sight of Emma and Ray making up. Of course he wanted this to happen but he felt something sting his heart. He has feelings for Emma. He knew that. But he didn't think he would react this way. He started to clench his hands, started to get a little angry. He asked himself "Why are they so close?", "Aren't they a little too touchy?", "Why aren't I in his position?".
Then, he started to settle down his anger and think about what he just expressed. "Why was I so angry? I know about my feelings. Of course I do. But I've learned to keep them in. I haven't exploded like that in a while. Why? Emma could be friends with whoever she wants. She could talk to whoever she wants. She could be in a relationship with whoever she wants. Yet, whenever she too friendly to another guy, I just want to pull her away and claim that she's mine, even if she isn't. Yet, when she has a conversation with another guy that lasts too long, I feel like budding between the two of them and stopping them, even if I don't have the rights to. Yet, if ever she would be in a relationship, it would break my heart. Of course, I won't be the one she'll end up with. She only sees me as family."
Once their conversation was over, they went on with their day. Thought, with every passing day, Ray got closer and closer to the duo (Emma and Norman). Soon enough, they weren't only two. Somebody integrated in their friend circle. From then, it became a trio. A fluff ball of energy, a natural born genius, and a pessimistic individual.
Ray got quite closer to Norman. On a relatable note, a friendly note but mostly on a rivalry note. They would always compete on who would get the better scores on their tests (Emma also tried to compete but she was no match for the two). About the relationship between Ray and Emma, the got a lot closer. A little too close for Norman's liking. Whenever Emma would say something silly, he would hit her head while laughing at her in a jokingly matter. But when he would smile, Emma cheeks started getting a light tint of rosy red. Time to time, she would give him a genuine smile that isn't the usual goofy one. And the look she would give him, was one that was filled with affection. Not as a friend but maybe something a little more?
Emma walks to school with Norman every morning. They would get to school and head to class. But when Ray would come and join them, she would be more happy then before. Seemed like she really liked his company. Ray seemed like he felt the same. Whenever He and Norman would be talking to each other and Emma would budge in, he'd hit her on the head. But once she wasn't looking, he would smile at her (something that didn't happen often). Norman, at this point was obviously jealous but he never admitted it. Thought, he wanted to ask Ray something to reassure his heart.
" - Hey Ray.
- Yo.
- Can I ask you something?
- Sure. he said in a calm tone.
- Well, not here but somewhere more private
- Why?
- Just come with me! Norman said impatiently while dragging him to the back of the school.
- Ok... W-we're here... Norman said while panting sice they ran there
- So what's your question? Keep it straight forward.
- So, uh do you like Emma's company?
- Uh she's pretty annoying but, yeah. I do.
- As friends?
- Ok. Look. I told you to be straight forward.
- God you see right through me don't you?
- Just ask your question already.
- Ok ok. Uh... How do I say it? Um... Look just uh do you like Emma?
- Oh that's all?
- Answer the question!!!
- I do.
- You do?!
- I do. As friends.
- Oh that's good news
- You going to confess?
- In fact, I will!" said Norman with confidence. The moment he said that, Ray felt like something clogged his throat. He couldn't get any words out. "Why?" he asked himself. I mean, he's been teasing Norman about keeping his feelings all the time. Wouldn't he be happy about this. His head told him to encourage his friend but his heart said otherwise. He was quite conflicted. He wanted to tell him that Emma was off limits because he liked her too. When Norman asked if he liked Emma he said yes without a second thought. Right after Ray said those words, he added as friends. He wanted Norman to be happy with Emma. So he had to keep his mouth shut about his own feelings. "All I'm doing is budding between those two." he told himself every time he was around them. Of course he tried to distance himself but couldn't help it. Being with them felt like home.
Ray was the same as Norman. The closer he got to her, the redder his cheeks would become. He told himself it's just because he's sick but that's an excuse and he's definitely aware about. But of course, just like Norman, he doesn't want to admit it. So even if he wanted to be with Emma, he would try his darn best not to. "I'm already a pain in the ass so why make it harder for them. I'm doing it for them right?" that was only a part of his intention. In reality, if ever he did tell her his feelings, she could've rejected him. After that, there was no way they could recover their relationship to what it used to be.
** Author's note: God going to school has been such a pain! I know I'm just ranting but the people there are so annoying!!! Ok so other than me being angry, I hope you enjoyed this part. Hopefully you understand it so far! :)
