Chapter 8

Emma's POV

I sat back in my sons hospital room, a smile that was evidently growing was on my face, I hadn't even noticed up until my mom looked at me weirdly "what?" I managed to say as I sat down.

"Nothing I just haven't seen you like this in such a long time.. it's nice" my mom smiled at me and I couldn't help but smile even more.

"Mom is Regina coming to see me?" Henry broke the silence.

"Hopefully kid, she did say on the phone that she would love to come see you" I smiled at him, looking over at my mum who had a smile on her face still. I couldn't help but laugh. I'm happy and that's what's shocking me most.

Some time had passed and I think I must have fallen asleep, because when I woke up I saw Regina sat on a seat by Henry, they was laughing about something until Regina had caught me staring at her.

"When did you get here?" I sounded a little raspy from just waking up. A broad smile grew from Regina's lips.

"Ohhh not to long, me and this young gentleman was getting to know each other" Regina looked lovingly at Henry, the smile that formed on Henry's face was indescribable.

"Looks like I'm not the only one you have an effect on hey?" I spoke a little more clearly now as I stood to stand by Regina.

"What was that swan?" Regina said harshly but playfully, I knew she was meaning to be harsh with the smile she had on her face.

"Oh nothin ms mills" I winked playfully.

"Mom get a room!" Henry blurted out "seriously not in front of me!"

I remember turning bright red and Regina laughing at me and then looking at Henry.

"Okay kid grandma is going to look after you, whilst me and Regina go and get some food! Want anything?" I asked.

"Umm yeah can I have chocolate and more chocolate?" He giggles lightly until I gave him a stern look. "Fine If you could get me pizza that would be great" he smiled.

"Alright kid won't be long, I promise" I smile at him before prompting Regina to leave the room too, she was still sat by his side playing a card game with him.

Once myself and Regina had gotten outside I looked at her "you're a natural with kids" I broke the silence. I could see that made her blush "what? I'm just telling you the truth.. you're really good" I stopped walking and tugged at her hands to make her face me.

"I- thank you swan" i could see her eyes were glistening "I'm just not used to people telling me I'm a natural. I was always told I had things to improve on when I was teaching kids.." Regina sniffled.

"Hey.. don't let the words of those who don't know you well enough over power the way you think and over power how people actually think about you! I get it, people will tell you who to be your whole life but you've just got to punch back and say no this is who I am... and you Regina you're a natural with children I promise you" I looked lovingly into her eyes.

Regina turned away "you're making me cry even more swan.. I don't like crying in front of peo" I wouldn't let her finish the sentence before grabbing her face softly wiping the tears away and crashing my lips into hers, letting my emotions take over me, I was relieved when I wasn't the only one who gave into the emotions when I felt Regina kissing me back.

Some time had passed when we came back from getting the pizza for Henry and a Chinese for my mom and Regina had already planned what we was eating.. her famous lasagne. "Hey sorry kid it took a while to order everything, but the pizza is still warm" I entered the hospital cubical where Henry was.

"It's alright mom.. as long as I still have warm pizza" Henry laughed slightly.

I handed him the box of pizza and the Chinese that my mom had ordered, and Regina brought in plates for everyone to put there food on. "I'll dish up my lasagne" Regina smiled at me.

"I bet you will" i thought to myself but ended up smirking in reply.

Regina ended up slapping me softly "maybe later" she whispered slowly into my ear making me shiver.

Henry looked over and made a gagging gesture I couldn't help but laugh at him "sorry kid" I whispered.

I saw my mom slightly laughing at it, but she couldn't fully laugh as she had a mouthful of Chinese.

That whole meal was full of us all laughing and getting to know things we didn't know, it really did feel like I was in the right family. This was the best night I've had since I was with Henry's father.
