Eve jumped as her phone buzzed in her hand, yet again lighting up with a text message that wasn't from her boyfriend.
Ellison: I just got your email. Why are the CIT's coming to our staff training?
Eve rolled her eyes. She knew the push-back would be coming after she sent out her email the night before, but it was starting to drive her nuts.
Ellison has changed the group chat name to Summer Camp Sisters
Ellison: Hey everyone, did you get Eve's email?
Eve dropped onto her bottom on the thick red carpet and stared at her screen, waiting for the incoming opinions. She didn't have to wait long.
Willow: I'm so excited! I love the fearless theme.
Auden: I don't get camp emails anymore, but this sounds interesting.
Eve felt a little pang of sadness in her chest that reared its head whenever she thought about a summer without Auden.
Thea: I'm going to end up throwing one of those little CITs like a football, I just know it.
Zara: I'm not sure how I feel about theme weeks, that's a lot of extra stuff to pack! But I bet the kids will like it.
Willow: What are the theme weeks? I can't open attachments on my phone.
Eve sighed and starting tapping out a response to Willow's question.
Eve: Week 1 is super heroes vs. villains, week 2 is rock stars vs. pop stars, week 3 is tie dye, week 4 is stars and stripes, and week 5 is tropical paradise.
She and Maverick had spent hours arguing about potential themes. She pushed hard for something with animals but he was unwavering in the super heroes v.s villains concept. Truthfully, he just wanted an excuse to wear his movie replica Batman costume.
Ellison: so basically Maverick just wants a reason to wear his Batman suit?
Eve snorted, her fingers flying.
Eve: nailed it.
Thea: I'm actually into this hero vs. villains idea. I want to be Maleficent.
Eve couldn't help it, she laughed out loud. A villain with a reason? There couldn't be a better fit for Thea.
Ellison: Eve you never answered my question. Why are the CITs coming to senior staff training?
Eve: it's just staff training, no senior or CIT weeks anymore. It was causing division and we wanted to try something new.
It took a great deal of restraint not to tear into Ellison a little bit. She knew how hard Eve had been working on these plans and her sister to questioning her in the group chat chipped away at her confidence a bit.
Auden: it's high time. I'm glad you will all have time to bond.
Eve smiled. As always, Auden had her back.
Maverick flung the front door of Algonquin Lodge open and sauntered in, immersed in whatever he had on his clipboard and looking ruggedly handsome.
"What's up, boss?" she asked playfully, putting her phone down to give Maverick her attention.
"I just got the medical information on our new staff members," he replied, taking a seat next to her on the carpet, "and came straight to you."
"Anything interesting?" Eve wondered, leaning toward his clipboard to sneak a peek.
