So this is a craft that I would recommend to any young artist. If you don't already know, an altered book is when you take an old book and completely deface it. Artistically of course. You can use as many different mediums as you want, have a theme, or just go wild like I did. Mine is a  hodgepodge of odd works of art, but I hope it inspires you to start your own.

This is the cover. I've found puffy paints work well as well as regular paint, but markers will probably smudge. I chose to use a larger book, although smaller chapter books can work just as well.

This is one of my earlier pages. As you can see, I painted directly on the paper and artistically destroyed the book. It's a bit messy, but it's fun to explore the different styles in an altered book.

The next one was designed using recycled tissue paper. You can sort of see the text underneath the paper, giving it another dimension.

So what do you think of an altered book? They're amazing for haphazard art and are a great way to track your artistic progression. Let me know what you think!
