"I need a job." Whining, she twirls a pen in her hand as she looks off into the distance out the window.

"I thought you were part-timing at the cafe in front of the school." Her friend flips through the book pages, her eyes not bothering to take a glance at the girl in front.

"I quit," she sighs.

"What?! Why?!" Her voice raises a bit, she looks at her best friend of many years. The other students in the library turn to shush the pair, mainly the girl with a cute, short bob cut.

"Such a good job and you just threw it away," whisper-yelling, her mind still in confusion as to why her friend made that decision.

"JiaLi, you know that I'm unable to overlook bullies. The manager was trying to take advantage of me and sneakily reduce my pay, so I told him that I rather quit than face the injustice."

"AH!" More shushes are thrown in their direction. "Did he do anything else to you?"

"If he dared to, I would have given him a beating before quitting," CuiXiu proudly smirks, crossing her arms.

"Then that's good. I promised your mom to look after you and report to her if anything happens."

CuiXiu squinted her eyes at her friend.

"Who's fault is it that my mom calls me every three hours and sends me more than 100 messages each day. It's because of you."  She points at JiaLi with an accusing finger.

"I know, but it wasn't completely my fault LaoTianYe ("God") decided to struck down lighting at that moment. Besides, my mom also bothers me a lot more now too, and it's already been 2 months."

"It's because of that stupid lighting that my bracelet broke and we were stuck in the hospital for a month. My grandpa won't let me go anymore. I lost the right to use the Hou family's special ability."

"I grew up with you and you never told me what the 'special ability' is," she said with big air quotes.

"I can't tell you. I'm not allowed to tell. If you told, then I would get into more trouble."

"Why?"

"Because it's a family secret. You knowing about its existence is already breaking our family rules."

"Fine, I won't force you to tell me."

CuiXiu's phone rings, bringing forth more hushes and shushes and an annoyed librarian.

"How could she just throw us out like that?! I still need to do more research for my project!" JiaLi complains while she glares at the front door. Turning to her friend she reminds her of the phone call. "Who called you?"

The moment CuiXiu saw the caller's name, she begins to sprint away.

"It's my grandpa!" She yells as she runs like death is chasing her.

She calls back and cautiously places her phone next to her ear. "Hello, grandpa, what's going on?" CuiXiu nervously asks on her phone.

"You brat! Why didn't pick up when I called?!" Placing the phone away from her ear, she can still hear the elder's yelling.

"Sorry grandpa, I didn't do it on purpose. I was in the library and the ringing would bother other people."

"I don't want to hear your excuses, come back home right now. Grandpa has something important to discuss with you." He firmly commands his youngest grandchild.

"But I still have stuff to do! I can't go home."

"You think that I don't know that you have no classes today and tomorrow."

"I still my part-time job!"

"Didn't you quit?"

"Grandpa, how do you know? Anyway, I don't want to go home."

"You little! It has to do with your bracelet!"

"What! Why didn't say so earlier! I'm coming right now!"
