Chapter 20 - Decision

Today is really exhausting, both mentally and also physically. For almost an hour long, Jimin sits there, crying as thinking about how unfair it is. This pain drains all of his energy. It's not easy at all, on the contrary, it's tough and a hard time like this always reminds him of his mother. He misses her so much. He wonders and keeps asking what if his mother was here, would it be different? Would it be easier? Though he doesn't know the exact answer, somehow he believes, at least it would be less complicated. The thought only makes him sighs. How he wishes his mother was the one who was alive, not his father. He knows, it sounds so wrong, but he seriously means it. He just hates his father so much.

The fact is, hatred is not shaped over a night but it is accumulated constantly over years. It's toxicating, bit by bit polluting Jimin's heart until it's far from bearable. When did it first happen? He is not sure either, but probably when his father decided to abandon him for his stepmother. He was young and innocent, yet he was forced to feel and learn what disappointment was. He was not aware, but slowly, he realized as he grew up. The day when he found out about his mother's accident was his stepmother's plan, his heart was broken and his ill feeling exploded. His father tried to burry it right infront of his face and that was immoral, intolerable and just inhumane. There, he gave up and allowed his hatred to completely control him. That moment, Park Jimin totally turned his back towards his father, there was no remedy, everything was too late, he swore that he would never forgive. Also, that second, without realization, Park Junjin lost his son forever.

In the other hand, behind the slightly open door, Seulgi witnesses everything. Honestly, at first she experiences a shock. It feels like her heart stops beating when she watches him blindly rampages. He scares her. Therewithal, she has every chance to walk away and leave him, but instead, she refuses to falter and chooses to be around. It's hard to explain as it just hits right on her heart. It's something called love. It's a force that makes her sees good in his bad and perfection in his imperfection. Even the worst part of him fails to make her doubt and hesitate. She is truly in love with this man. That's enough reason for her to take risk and stay beside him through this down.

After a while, Seulgi sees that Jimin finally gets to manage his emotion. He wipes his tears and takes a deep breath. He is calm now but his eyes still look a little bit empty. She concerns about him but she faces dilemma. She wants to come and keep him company, but she considers and respects his personal space. She has no intention to cross the line, but it drives her crazy. That's why she braves herself and takes her first step in. She proceeds to approach him, but someone stops her, holding her wrist gently. She immediately turns her face and finds grandma there. She is taken aback by grandma's presence.

"Grandma" Seulgi whispers lowly.

"Seulgi, I will take care of it" Grandma says.

Seulgi looks right into grandma's eyes and she sees guilt there. She understands, grandma must regret a decision to send her talk to him and go through this wearying emotion. In the other side, grandma knows that she is the one who starts this fire yet she selfishly cleans her hand as she asks Seulgi to put out the flame. For that, she blames herself. This is her fault and she needs to take the responsibility. She has to take step and conciliate her own grandson.

"Don't worry, I'll talk to him" Grandma continues as she pats Seulgi's hand.

"Yes, grandma" Seulgi nods and leaves once grandma lets go of her hand.

Seulgi walks away and then goes down the stairs. In the middle, she halts and sighs. It's tiring. Slowly, she limply sits there as her legs give up after she stood on her 4.3 inches Yves Saint Laurent's Opyum sandals for an hour straight. She leans on the stair railing and closes her eyes instantly when she realizes that her tear is about to fall. It hurts her whenever Jimin is in pain and it racks her more as she is unable to help him. She also feels sorry to grandma because she is so useless. It breaks her heart. It makes her feels depressed and dejected.
