The events last night didn’t let Ronan sleep easy. Everything was so mixed up it was too much to bear. Today, they have to kill another person again. It made Ronan stumble to tears whenever those who don’t deserve to die suffer from their flames. The morning was yet to come and everything was dark on Ronan’s room. His lamp shade was able to provide a little light but it even fueled his sorrow feeling right now. Ronan looked into his hand and unleashed a small fire. How is this even possible? Ronan thought. He remembered yet another lesson in their science that a fire needed three main components to ignite – oxygen, heat and fuel. It was called as the Fire Triangle. This made Ronan laugh. Understanding science was too much for him. Even this impossibility made him crazy for a short while.

“Are you awake now Ronan?” It was a voice from the other side of his door. It was his father. It was as early as 5:00 AM, but his father always go to work this early so no doubt he was already all set for his job today. Ronan shook his head, trying to leave the morning grogginess away on his magnetic bed. “Yes.” Ronan replied politely. Ronan unlocked the door separating his room from the rest of his home. He saw his father and he was really already prepared to leave. His father wore a long sleeve with a tie and pair of black slacks with a huge metallic belt. His father works on the office so this was the expected getup.

“Your mother will leave for the morning as well. Go and watch over your sister.” His father said but the remark was yet to sink in on Ronan’s mind. He was spacing for a moment. When his father finally taps his shoulder, it was the time Ronan returned to his consciousness. “Of course father.” He said immediately.

His father started to the door. When he opened the main door of their home, he paused for a bit like he had something to say. “Also Ronan, be careful outside. We all know about these strange killings that happened for the past two weeks. The authorities are yet to find out who were responsible for those killings. The only lead was they were using fires to kill victims.” His father said. When Ronan finally reached his father through the doorway to lock the door once he was out, he answered. “Of course father. You take care as well.” Ronan said.

When his father left, Ronan locked the door of their home once again. Silence filled the living room of their home. It was a large room and had many glass windows. Even for a dark morning like this, the living room was not spared from the street lights that were illuminating the whole street. When Ronan was about to open the door of their home to have some early morning breeze, his sister appeared from behind.

“You didn’t eat your dinner last night. Where were you all these time? You know that mother will not permit you to be loitering late at night. It is too dangerous in addition to those murders.” Yana said worriedly. Her hair was still unfixed when she went to the living room. She sat into one of the chairs of the living room and grabbed a book. Ronan closed his eyes but didn’t bother to look back to his sister. “I told you I have project to take care of. Also, I already ate my fill last night in my friend’s place.” He said, which was followed with continues silence. It was not before long until his sister decided to speak again, letting go of the Harry Potter Book she was about to read. “You know our parents will not always buy your reason. You are already 16 my brother. Be responsible enough.” Yana said like she was disciplining a child. Her voice was stretched up so early in the morning.

If you only know what I am doing all this time, you’ll realize that what I am trying to do here is not easy. Ronan thought. He looked at her sister steadily. He understood how worried his sister about him. He then decided to sit to the chair of the living room as well. He leaned back, trying to relax himself but he was still feeling uneasy. The thought of murdering someone again later didn’t leave his mind even for a short while.
