Summer day, the rare occurrence happened in Gracefield City. The heavens aggregrated the conceding clouds unto the place and poured an unexpected drizzling warm rain, accompanied with the unusual cold breeze — challenging for the dominance of the temperature.
Emma was sitting on the blue cushioned chair, a cup of mild coffee embraced by her hands. A pointing finger caressed the small curve of the cup in habit, as she watched the soft, thin, and nimble of the raindrops through the glass window with that kind of eyes.
Her pupils that supposed to be as fiery as the zest of the oranges and also, as sweet as the flavour when it drowned into someone's eyes, became empty — as though the juices within it drained, a blatant shades were the one tinted on her orbs.
She breathed heavily, a hoarsed one specifically. She shifted her gaze on the warm liquid inside the cup and a hint of her reflection had been drawn on the coffee. Emma eyed at her mirrored face in a short period and forced to form a weak smile. "I told you to wait for me, Norman. I told you to survive this problem together."
In her next inhalation, the intake of oxygen became deeper as her heart started to feel heavy. Her grievance towards their situation right now made her condition worse.
She also noticed the apparent quake of her fingers and the orange big cup accidentally slipped out from her fingers. A loud crash trembled through her ears and the fragments of the cup splattered on the floor, the coffee flowed in any direction.
Emma looked at her shaking hands, pupils dilated. At the same time, the pain she had been felt elevated as the heart constricted through itself and blood couldn't circulate properly. Shuddering, she curled herself up as her fingers tangled through her hair, gripping it tightly and shouted, "NORMAN! WAIT FOR ME, PLEASE!"
She said several times, as loud as she might reach it to his hometown and heard her cries — even though she was aware that it was useless. Maybe, she was shouting to reduce the pain. However, every shout she made, the more her heart palpitated. She felt like she was being sandwiched between two moving walls.
Beforehand, the house she had been residing to was not her own house. It was a renthouse near in their school and the members of that household are all of her friends from her school, which is in Gracefield High School. They were lucky that this house was spacious enough for them to live and it is nearby in their school.
Since they will leave this house a month later, all of them heard the orangette's cry on the ground floor.
Ray was the first person who burst his door open, pertubation plastered on his face. Earlier, he was on his typical spot, in which on the study table. He was reviewing the topics that may reveal on their upcoming entrance exam in Neverland University until that thing happened. His head instantly turned on the door, his grip on his mechanical pencil tighten. 'Emma?'
Another echo reveberated again on the hallway of second floor. It was clear and boombastic. By that, a sweat rolled on the side of his face and concluded, "Argh, Norman has an attack again."
Norman is Emma's soulmate. He already know about it when the nationals of Math Quiz Bee held on his school, which is Lambda Academy last year. It is two cities away from Gracefield High School. He noticed the skeleton of the snowflake symbol on his wrist when he were offering handshake to their opponents.
However, he didn't tell it to Emma because if the event was way around, she was eager to meet this person. And if they meet, everything about them will be connected. Even the pain he feels will be interlaced with Emma.
And he didn't want to see Emma suffer, just like how Norman suffered through his chronic disease.
Yet, the fate was hiding something under its sleeves and they coincidentally met on the day after Sports Festival.
When he reached first floor, her lament gradually subsided. The heavy trinkling of the rain on the roof became the music through their ears. Ray went to the living room and it was totally in chaos. Emma was in the cushioned chair, curling herself like a stone. Her curly hair was messy. So, he thought that the person underneath that position was totally wreck.
Ever since she met Norman, she often experienced this things and she became paler than usual. Everyone noticed that kind of change to Emma. She may still the enthusiatic person they've knew but her complexion was worsen as time passed by.
"Emma!" Ray joined in the symphony of the rain. He was avoiding the crashed pieces of the cup from having a contact with his feet. He approached her by stoop down on Emma's body level on the side.
"Emma?! Are you alright?!" he inquired once more. However, he received none.
A fear started to crept onto his spine when there was no response to the latter. He stood up in panic as he shook her shoulder lightly, which gave him a result of an unconscious body of the pallid person.
