The Avengers

Sam frowned, "Where are they?" Bruce shook his head. "What happened?" Sam was panicking. "I don't know!" Bruce pressed more buttons. "Well Bring them back!" Sam Yelled, "I'm trying". Sam turned around with his hands in his head. He saw a man, he hadn't seen him before, the man was sitting staring at the lake. Sam frowned, "hey look" Sam spoke to Bruce. "Well go and see" Bruce motioned.

Sam reached the man, he was an old man. "Cap?" Sam Asked frowning. "Hey Sam" Old Steve looked at Sam and smiled. "Did something go wrong or did something go right?" Sam was very confused. Steve just smiled. "I thought I'd try some of that life Tony told me about" Sam understood now, he nodded. "Where's Bucky?" Steve just looked at Sam's eyes.

"Alright 2 more to go" Steve looked at the suitcase with only an orange and blue stone. "Gotta admit, Asgard is a pretty cool place" Bucky smiled. "Where do you think I should leave this?" Bucky shrugged at Steve holding Mjolnir. "Give me" Steve handed it to Bucky and it immediately fell to the ground Bucky still holding it, he tried to lift it. Nothing. Steve started laughing, "I finally understand Thor, it is pretty fun" Bucky just rolled his eyes at him. "Let's leave it here, Thor probably leaves it anywhere he wants knowing not many can lift it, barely anyone" Steve Commented and Bucky nodded, "alright so next destination?" Bucky prepared his suit. "Vormir, 2014" Steve Replied with a shaky breath. Bucky took a deep breath and nodded. "Alright"

It was beautiful, dark and cold but beautiful, the sky was purple and the moon shone really bright, they saw the mountain. "Do we have to climb that?" Steve nodded. When they finally reached the top Steve shuddered. "You alright?" Bucky Asked, "Yes fine". Bucky swallowed hard when he saw the edge, he didn't want to come closer. "Welcome" they both turned to the sound in fighting stances. "James son of Winnifred" Bucky frowned. "Steven, son of a Bitch" Steve's eyes widened, "excuse me?" He asked, the figure stepped into the light revealing none other than the red skull. "Schmidt? What are you doing here?" Steve asked angrily. "The tesseract pulled me here, punished me here, I guide others to a treasure I can't posses" Red Skull explained. "How are you even alive?" He asked to the both of them, "frozen, we were frozen" Bucky answered. Red skull nodded. Bucky walked towards the edge, he just wanted to see if her body laid there. "The stone, it isn't down there" Red Skull said. "I know, I'm here to return it" Steve showed red skull the stone. "Why would anyone return it?" Schmitt Asked. "We've used it, we don't want to alter the timelines, so we are returning it" Red Skull looked at them deeply, "You have already altered it" Steve and Bucky looked at the creature standing in front of them. "When you returned Gamora, Natasha gave Gamora her soul back and her body had already been healed, but that doesn't mean she could come back, the stone is missing a soul, it must be replaced, if the stone doesn't receive the other soul that's missing, there will be consequences, awful consequences" Steve cursed under his breath. "A soul for a soul". Before Bucky could even move Steve was already running towards the cliff. "Oh hell no" Bucky tackled Steve. "No Steve stop!" Bucky Yelled when Steve was bout to get up again. "You've been enough of a hero already, you've fought enough, your life, is also for you you know" Steve shook his head, "I can't let hell break lose again, that stone has so much power, I don't want to even think about what it could do". Bucky nodded, "I agree, we must stop this. Shouldn't be you though" Bucky took a deep breath and smiled. "I want to do this" Steve frowned. "There is nothing more for me in Earth, That's why I wanted to come with you, because if something were to happen to you I'd be present and I'd help you, I can't really live on Earth without you, I just don't fit in" Steve had tears in his eyes. "Don't cry, I want this Steve, do you know what this means? It means I help to save the world, the universe, it means I do something good after all the destruction I've made, you've been a hero your entire life, heroes like you deserve a happy ending, I deserve a chance to be a hero" They both stood up, "it also means you're free, you can do whatever you want, you can literally travel through time, you can do anything Steve, how about you try to be happy, and stop protecting me". "Bucky I don't feel trapped with you, that's stupid" Steve Interrupted. Bucky smiled. "You are trapped with me, you know what though? You want me to be happy right?" Steve nodded. "Well, down there, down there lays my heart, that woman took my heart and my mind back in the day, and now, I'm letting her take my soul, you know why? Because of love, because of the power of love. Love makes you do stupid things, Love makes you fight harder, love makes you strong but at the same time it makes you vulnerable, so Steve, as a friend, do you love me?" Steve smiled. "I do" Bucky smiled in return, "then let me go" Steve stared at his friend, his very best friend since childhood. They had been through everything together. Good and bad times. "This is the stupidest you can get" Bucky smiled at the comment. "I agree, but I'm doing it out of love, love for you, for Sam even, my love for the world, I'm giving them the right to live, and I want my right to live happily, in love" Bucky just grinned staring at the bottom of the cliff, he took the stone from Steve. "This the end of the line?" Steve Asked. Bucky wrapped Steve in a tight hug, "Yeah, And here you are, you're a man of you word Steve Rogers" Steve buried his head in Bucky's neck. "You still got a promise to keep, I believed it was a certain dance" They pulled away. Bucky got closer to the edge. "I'm getting the girl, so should you" Steve just smiled at him. "Don't worry, I'm not afraid, I'm ready" Bucky stopped quiet and wiped a tear from his cheek. "I'm sorry" Steve closed his eyes making more tears fall. When he opened them, he was gone. Falling. Steve didn't even look down. He just wiped away his tears and smiled, he knew Bucky was happy, he had seen it in his eyes. He was ready.
