I was just finishing up my orders when suddenly Jack came out of his office and started talking to everyone in a commanding voice.
"Alright everyone, we have a new mission given to us by head of the FBI. Apparently, there is an illegal chemical substance that needs to be retained. He thinks it's connected to some guy named Louis Koen. I need research on this guy. What he's been doing the past year, who he knows, where he lives."
Everyone stood there dazed at what he said when Jack yelled, "Let's get to it people."
That's when it hit me, I knew that man, Louis. He was one of Bucky's friends that would practically flirt with everyone including me. Louis didn't know Steve well but he knew me just as much as he knew Bucky. He always talked about how he wanted to be a chemical engineer but I don't think he thought it would lead to a life of being a criminal.
I strolled up to Jack Thompson talking to another Agent. Once the agent stepped away I spoke.
"I know who Louis is."
"What do you mean?" Jacked asked.
"His full name is Louis Ronald Koen. He was enlisted in the war beside James, or Bucky, Barnes. He spoke of being a chemical engineer when we would talk but we haven't been in contact recently," I replied as Jack started writing notes with a notepad he found.
"Do you think you could come in contact with him, Rogers?" Jack asked anxiously.
"I believe I could I would just have to go through some old journals that Bucky wrote," I said not looking forward to it.
"Thanks Rogers, not half bad on the first day," He said patting me on the shoulder as he walked away to the main office for a meeting with the other agents.
"Would you like me to assist you Ms.Rogers?" Peggy asked appearing before me.
"Well, I don't know if you want to fish through a bunch of old journals but if you would like..." I said waiting for her reply.
"If I can convince Jack to let me go with you, I would love to come along," she replied with a beaming smile.
I stood there waiting for the answer when Jack and Peggy came bursting out of the meeting room door arguing about what seemed to be me.
"Jack your being ridiculous, I'm not needed here at the SSR right now. Your much busier than I am," Peggy argued as Jack stood there standing his ground.
"Marge, this new case requires your attention when it comes to finding out who Louis knew," Jack replied as Peggy rolled her eyes.
"Well, thank you for the compliment but I already did find a person, Sarah," She says with a sly smirk.
"Carter you know what I meant. I'll go to look through the diaries while you work with Daniel on finding Louis. And that's final," Jack commanded as Peggy stomped away to the office area where Daniel was.
Jack made dead eye contact with me and walked over to whisper in my ear, "I guess your stuck with me Rogers."
I felt my cheeks got a light pink but I remained calm remembering that he was my boss.
"Shall we be off to my home?" I asked as he put something in a briefcase.
"We shall. I hope you have food at your place because I'm starved," He said as we walked out of the building.
I rolled my eyes and entered to the sidewalk where a black Chevrolet Chevy Deluxe Coupe was parked which Jack was walking towards
"Well aren't you coming?" he asked opening the door for me.
"Of course," I said snapping out of my daze.
Jack drives into the busy street and begins to talk trying to, I don't know, spark up some conversation.
"So... what exactly did you do during the war?" He asked glancing at me then the road.
"Well, I was at first a nurse but then I began to do um... field work," I realized I needed to choose my words carefully otherwise I could reveal a secret of mine.
"What do you mean by 'field work'," Jack said curiously.
I looked down at my seat and spoke, "Um.. you know helping occasionally on certain missions."
"Madison, are you telling me that you fought, shot people, and went into battles? Even though you are a woman?" He asserted.
"I didn't go into a major battles but I attended missions that my gender was restricted to. But I was able to sneak on learning how to truly fight correctly in the war," I uttered as Jack sat there is shock trying to maintain his eyes on the road.
"But once Steve became a huge star it got more difficult because suddenly everyone wanted to protect Captain America's sister. Instead of fighting I was organizing different sizes of bandages," I said finishing what seemed like a huge part of my history.
There was silence for a brief moment and then he said, "Wow. That's quite impressive Madison. I didn't know a women would take is much risk."
"What about Carter, she is quite a credit to her profession. She probably has put more on the line that I have. Yet, you give her no attention, I can tell," I said with truth flowing through my voice.
"You know nothing about me or Carter," he snaps back clearly offended.
"Well, what I do know is that you have never been to my home before so how did you get me here," I said as we pulled up to a small apartment on the first level.
"I looked up your address information before we came. Now come on let's go," He responds hopping out of the car.
I slowly got out of the car and stroll to my door. I grab out the key as Jack stood close to me behind my shoulder. I finally unlock the door and we enter into my apartment.
"It's pretty clean in here," Jack commented observing the small living room.
"What did you expect a pig barn? My mother told me one thing when she raised me, to always have a clean home no matter what. So since then I'm always prepared," I disclosed as I plopped myself on my couch.
Jack let out a chuckle and looked at me tasing his eyebrows, "Shouldn't we be looking the journals?"
"Oh, yes of course! Silly me!" I hopped off the couch to a closet with files.
"Woah, there is a lot of files. Some of these should be at the SSR. Wait is that a copy Project Rebirth?" He observed.
"Yes I made a copy of it after Steve... passed," I replied as I began to rummage though more files.
"Wait is this the James Barnes file. The head of the government has been looking for this for years," He said looking at the box containing everything there is to know on him.
"Um... Madison wouldn't the journal be in his file," He asked.
"Nope. I hid them away so that no one would be able to grab ahold of them, not the SSR, or any other government official," I professed not realizing how possessive over these items.
I grabbed the journal and stare at it for a moment before going into the living room with Jack. We sat down on my old, grey couch as I began to open up the journal to a random page. Jack began to read it aloud which was a bit... unexpected.

Today, Steve got into another fight. Little twit almost got himself a black eye, luckily I was there to save his butt. If he keeps doing this my  family says we might just have to adopt him. But I prefer not to because that means Madison and I would be related. Which causes the thought of me being in love with her squashed at us being related. Anyways, I've been doing more exercises to keep up my muscles since they finally might send me on a mission with the 107th regiment. Hopefully, Steve won't be lonely when I'm gone. I've been planning a date with a couple of girls for Steve so he wouldn't be so lonely. I mean he has his sister but who else. His poor parents have passed and he keeps getting beat up in alleys. What am I going to do?

The journal entry ends as Jack and I sit there awkwardly.
"Well than we need to go farther back because this is a bit before Steve had the serum," I said breaking the awkward silence as I flipped to the beginning of the journal.
"Madison, look at me," Jack ordered.
I looked into his deep blue eyes staring at him as I awaited his words to be spoken.
"Are you sure you want to proceed into doing this? You obviously had a strong relationship with Bucky and I don't want you to be unfocused."
Of course, the ass he is all he wanted to know if I could focus on this mission and not my dead best friend.
"For your information Mr.Thompson just because I am I woman does not mean that I can't keep my emotions in check. So, unless you have any other remarks to make about Bucky and I and our relationship than shall we proceed with the reading of the journal," I respond with sass and anger in my voice.
"Yes of course Ms.Rogers," he replies sounding regretful of his past words.
I flip through some pages and then I found the page about Louis.

Today, Louis and I decided to go to the bar up north today. I picked him up at his house on the west side of Brooklyn. My car suddenly stopped working so we walked the rest of the way. We talked about girls and such but Louis couldn't stop talking about Madison. I controlled myself but by the time we got to the bar I was ready to punch him in the face. As usual he got drunk in under an hour. I tried to drag him home but he refused so I just left him there. I can't handle him any more. I guess only Madison and Steve get me.

"I know where that bar is located," I said jumping up with excitement.
"Alright but we still don't know where he lives," Jack replied not as enthusiastic as I was about the bar information.
"But, we do know what bar he attends. Bucky says he would go there all the time and I bet you that he still goes there," I said looking done at the paper once again and then back at him.
"Alright let's go," he said hopping off of the couch to go to the car.
I guess going to a bar would be fun but with Jack? I think we need to make to make a stop at the SSR though.
"We are making a stop at the SSR," Jack said saying the words out loud that appeared in my head as we drove off to our new destination.
