My Understandings

Chapter 2

We all split up into to groups. ''Who wants to be in my group?" I ask. "Mee!" Austin says, throwing his arm in the air. I laugh. The rest split up and we agree to meet back at the front in 30 minutes.

''So, care to tell me a little about yourself?" Austin asks as we look around the vegetables. ''Well, I was diagnosed two years ago. Uhm.. I was engaged to a guy named Matthew, but he broke it off when I was diagnosed.'' I say. "What a dick! That's an awful thing to do!" Austin says. I nod. ''Yeah, he thought I was going to die, and when I told him he straight away broke it away.'' I say. My mind goes to that day.

'Ugh, how am I gonna tell him?' I say with a sigh as I walk up my porch. Hey honey, I went to the doctor's and they told me I have cancer. What would you like for dinner? I sigh and walk through the door. ''Honey, I'm back!" I say and take my jacket off. I walk in the living room to see Matthew on his laptop. ''Hey babe.'' He says as I kiss his cheek.

''Matt, I need to tell you something.'' I say, my nerves kicking in. He looks up from his laptop, worry in his eyes. ''Sure, is everything okay?" He asks. I sigh. It's now or never. ''Okay, so the doctors told me I had cancer. But they said that they probably would be able to help me.'' I say. He looks at me. ''Seriously? You have to be joking.'' He says and slams his laptop shut, making me jump.

''It'll be okay. They can help me and everything will be back to normal. We're gonna get married and live a wonderful life together.'' I say and take his hands in mine. He rips them away. ''No, I can't handle this. It's over. The weddings off. We're done. I can't be married to a dead person.'' He says and grabs his jacket. ''Matthew, we can work this ou-''  ''NO! We can't, it's done with. Goodbye, Lace.'' He says and walks out of my house, slamming the door behind him.

''Lace? Are you okay?" Austin asks, snapping me out of my thoughts. ''What? Oh, yeah. Uhm, about me.. Well, my dad owns a big restaurant and my mom is an artist.'' I say. ''Really? How cool!" Austin says, smiling at me. ''Yeah. My childhood was definitely interesting. But I got lonely. I'm an only child and some nights, I'd spend crying in bedroom because I was so lonely. That's where Lauren comes into place.'' I say with a laugh.

"When I was four years old, Lauren was born. I instantly fell in love with her. She was a friend! As we grew up, we became two peas in a pod. Some people even ask if we're sisters.'' I say with a laugh. ''Awe, I feel you. I was an only child too. Not really fun.'' He replies. "Yeah, but that's what music's for. I learned to play piano when I was three. Now I can play piano, guitar, saxophone, and cello.'' I say. Austin's eyes widen. ''Jeez, you're talented.'' He says. I smile. ''You haven't heard me play yet, silly.'' I say. ''Well if you play as beautiful as you are, then I'm sure I'll be good.'' He says with a wink. I blush.''C'mon on, you cheeky tall man.'' I say and grab his hand. He chuckles and we continue getting the food.

Thirty minutes quickly pass and I pay for the food. We carry all of the food back to the car and surprisingly, it all fits in the back. ''So, you guys know what you want when we get back?" I ask as we drive back to my house. ''PIZZZZZAAAAAAA!" Alan yells. I laugh. ''You're in luck, she makes awesome homemade pizza.'' Lauren says. I grin and nod. ''Yeah, it is pretty amazing.'' I say with a laugh. ''YAYAYAYAYAYA! PIZZA!'' Alan and Austin cheers making me smirk.

We carry all of the groceries in and I quickly put them away. ''Can I help?" Austin asks, coming into the kitchen. ''Sure!'' I say and grab my phone. I plug it into my iHome thing and Slipknot blares throughout the house. ''OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS SONG'' Austin says making me laugh. ''Me too!'' I say and grab the ingredients out of the pantry.

Austin and I make the pizzas until I throw a pepperoni at him. ''What? OH IT IS SO ON." He says and grabs the cheese. He throws a  few pieces at me, which I catch in my mouth. I smirk at his reaction. ''You just blew my mind.'' He says and does the hand motion. I giggle and turn back to the pizzas.

After we all eat, the guys are too tired to go home. ''Sleepover?" I ask. They all grin. ''SLEEPOVER!!'' They all cheer making me laugh. ''Well, I have to go. Work tomorrow. I'll talk to you tomorrow, Lace.'' She says. We all give her a hug and she leaves the house.

''Okay, well I have 2 spare rooms. Pair up.'' I say with a wink. Austin wraps and arm over my shoulder. ''Dibs.'' He says. I giggle softly and blush. Aaron and Alan pair up and Phil and Tino pair up. ''Okay, well the bathrooms are down the hall and the bedrooms are next to the bathroom. Goodnight, guys. Sleep well.'' I say. I go into my room and grab some pj's. I quickly change in the bathroom and go back into my room. Austin's only in his jeans and is laying on my bed. I blush and turn the light off. I crawl into bed next to him.

''Goodnight, Lace.'' Austin says and pulls me closer to him. I cuddle into him. ''Goodnight, Austin.'' I say. I slowly drift off to sleep, dreaming about tonight's events...
