After about two months of only selling ounces, I graduated and moved up to selling halves & quarter bricks. But that still wasn't enough, and eventually I started getting bored. I went to Omari to tell him I was ready to move on to bigger weight. In due time, I wanted him to introduce me to the connect so I could sell and be my own boss, but I knew he would never agree to that. Omari was a business man, and that meant money came first. So I decided to leave that part out. He was taken back at first, but he took me serious. He taught me how to cut the coke to produce more product and he even taught me about freebasing. The worst thing he did was teach me how to freebase. When I took the freebase to the streets my pockets went insane. The fiends emptied their pockets out for it . And now that I know how to make it, it was a wrap. The easiest though, was crack. All of my clients loved it. It was foolproof. And I loved selling it. It was easy to make, whereas freebasing took too much, and was riskier to make. You had to have Ether, which caused most of the problems . It was already easy to catch fire, but on top of that it was getting harder and harder to get my hands on it.
"Do you really have to leave?" Shay pleaded over the phone. "Yeah girl, I do." I laughed, boarding the plane. "Esther you've been acting real funny. I don't mean no harm but, where all this money come from? What's going on?" Shay was too nosy for her own good. I still haven't told her what was going on, because I knew she'd be dramatic and shit. I tried my best to hide the money from her but it was too much to handle. I couldn't help but to spend all of the fast money. I had never touched so much money in my life, even as a stripper. And not only that, I was Omari's top worker. I had at least thirty clients. Now, due to my hard work, Omari was sending me on a business trip to New York. The goal was to gain more clientele, that way we would be moving up North and in the South. And me being from New York only made it better. I was familiar with all the streets, roads, twist and turns. And I knew almost everyone. "I just been doing really good at work, Shay. Damn is it so hard to believe that I can do something other then stripping?" "What? No! That's not what I said at all!" "Yeah, but it's what you meant." She sighed, knowing there was no reasoning with me. "So how long are you gone for again? I'm glad you decided to visit your mom." Well, that was part of the reason I was going. I couldn't be in my hometown without showing my face. "Maybe a week. Don't worry 'bout me, your boyfriend will keep you company." I laughed to myself, thinking of all the times I walked in on her bent over the bed. I wasn't hating, though, because I wish it could of been me. Eventually I got Shay off my phone after a few more words. I slumped down in my seat, before putting my silk sleep mask on. It was so quiet on the plane, you can hear a pin drop. Flying first class had it's perks.
Minutes after getting off the plane I was bombarded with Brooklyn love from my Aunt Carol. I still wasn't feeling them for letting my mom leave rehab, so the love wasn't all the way received. But fuck it, i'm here now. And I do plan on getting things back under control. "Everyone's excited to see you. Oh, Diego and Manny are going to be so happy to see their baby cousin. Even our family from Staten Island came when I told them you-" "You invited everyone, Carol?" I interrupted, clearly annoyed. Yeah, I planned on seeing everyone I could while I was here, but I had other things on my to do list. I have a smooth business deal going on, and with them knowing I was in town, they were just going to fuck it up. "Of course, Essie. I even got a special surprise for you." I wasn't big on surprises, and it seemed as if they were going to keep rolling in. I slid in the front seat, feeling cramped as hell. "You still got this old thing?" I tried my best to get comfortable. "Yeah, Mrs. Thang. Not everybody's balling like you." She said, eyeing my designer outfit. "Mrs. Thang?" "Yeah, that's you." Carol shot back. "What? Puh-lease. What's this surprise all about? I hope it's not my sperm donor popping up." I gave her a serious face. I did not feel like dealing with him right now. I was already on edge; the last thing I needed was him adding to the stress. Finally we got to my grandma's house, and to my not so surprise-surprise, there were cars lined down the block. Carol wasn't playing when she said she invited the whole family.
