Sam sat on the sagging mattress in the decrepit motel room, watching traffic progress. Dean sat in the passenger seat of his father's '67 Chevy impala staring out the window hoping his baby brother was okay. "Dean, did you hear me?" John's rough voice breaking his concentration. "Yeah dad. I know, it's a ghoul we've taken them on before." Dean said rolling his eyes. Sam looked around the dimly lit room. "Why do they always leave me?" He asked his voice breaking under the stress of tears. "Dad, can I please stay with Sam?" John looked at his boy, his vision sober for once. "Dean, a friend of mine sent his daughter to watch after Sam. Just to keep her out of the hunting life." John sighed. "But if you want to stay, I'll be fine on my own." Dean's happiness warmed the entire car through the cool New York drizzle. "Really?!?" John laughed hoarsely, turning around. When they got back to the motel John made it very clear that his friend's daughter was in charge. "I got it dad, don't be a wise ass." Dean said shutting the impala door. "Hi Sam. I'm Peregrine it's nice to meet you." Peregrine said holding out her soft hand with its freshly painted nails. "Nice to meet you too." Sam said in awe of her bright pink hair. "I'm Dean." He said from the doorway, slowly realizing that she was hot and there were only two beds. "Hi Dean, I hope that a boy my age can be some sort of help around here." Sam snorted. "Dean, be helpful with anything not involving Baby?" The boys began a silent glaring match while she tried to figure out who Baby was. "Okay, well now that introductions are out of the way what do you boys want for dinner?" Dean just shrugged. "Burgers?" A grin spread across her face. "My specialty." She said tying an apron around her waist. "What are you doing?" Sam asked. "Cooking..." She smiled. "You can cook burgers?" She laughed this bell like laugh. "Yes, I can." She grabbed her bag of food and began cooking dinner.
