"Catherine! Run!" My dad's last words echoed in my brain and I watched me sprint towards the black car. There I see a fresher version of my mother frantically gesturing for me to get to her. Before I got there, I whipped my head back just in time to hear the loud bang and see my dad fall to the ground, dead.*
I woke up, bolt upright and forced myself to breathe deeply even though my heart was pounding. "It was just a dream," I whispered, "just a dream." More like a nightmare. My breath slowed gradually and my heart returned to its normal pace. I took one huge breath and for a couple of slightly panicked seconds I wondered where I was. Then I remembered. I was at the Hills Boarding School for Boys and Girls. I was in my dorm, the one I luckily have to myself. I was in my bed, safe, with no uncle who wants the fortune that Dad left me- yet. I was safe in the school, because the principal WAS an FBI agent in her life before she was too old for the job. I was safe, with no guys like Michael trying to seduce me just so my uncle can get his greedy little hands on the fortune. I was safe. Full stop. I relaxed and eased back between my sheets, trying to get to sleep so I would be ready for my first full day at Hills Boarding School.
My alarm woke me up with its loud, beeping mechanical tone.
I murmured to myself sleepily, "I have to check in with Mum first." I pulled out the small, innocent -looking watch, turned it over and pressed the small, almost invisible keys in a special order. The code was so confidential that I could barely remember it despite all the years of training I had just to survive a normal life. I watched as the watch transformed into a small screen, just enough to see the relief on Mum's face as she sees mine.
"Cath," she breathed and smiled that brilliant smile of hers, "You're safe."
"Yeah, Mum." I spoke hurriedly, afraid someone in the rooms next to me might hear me. "Listen, I'll keep a low profile, just in case, okay, Mum?"
Mum's easy laugh resounded through the small speakers. "Be a normal girl, Cath. Make some friends. Do whatever normal girls do."
I sighed, afraid that Mum is taking it not seriously enough, but on the other hand, she's a qualified agent. "Yes, Mum."
"Have fun, okay?"
"Yep. Love you."
"See you, darling."
The minuscule screen faded to black, so I put it back in its drawer and gathered up my school uniform to take a shower. When I'm done, I dressed in my school uniform which consists of a white blouse, with the school logo and red lining, a red checkered skirt, which reaches halfway down my upper leg and white socks. Of course there are the standard black school shoes, but I made it a little prettier my having heels. I brushed back my straight black hair and placed a red Alice band through it. I rubbed a little cream into my cheeks and smiled at myself in the mirror. Hopefully this will be enough to conceal me and blend in with the other girls. I walk out and check my clock. 8:00 already?!?!? I quickly scan over my timetable and with my photographic memory, I managed to stuff the books I needed into my bag, slung it over my shoulder and almost run out of the room, headed for the dining hall.I shoved my door open and quickly slammed it behind me and locked it once I was out. I turned, in a hurry, just in time to smash into a very hard chest. I saw a flash of school uniform, and then my nose started to hurt. A lot. I sat down on the floor, rubbing my nose and muttering, "Ow." Actually, in my head I thought *Please don't stop. Please don't stop. Please don't stop. Please don't-*
