Walking down the road was beautiful. There were flowers I had never seen or heard of before and people that had different features. It finally felt like I was home. Someplace I belonged.
Soon we walked up around a corner and what I saw was amazing. The castle. It was huge, rustic looking and it was made out of grey bricks. It shone in the sunlight.
"Wow," I said speechless.
My dad turned around and smiled. As we walked into the castle, I looked around, taking in every detail. Everyone turned and stared as I passed.
"First we will take you to your room so you can change for lunch." My father said motioning to a maid. "Mia will take you to your room and help you pick out appropriate clothes."
Mia was a girl around my age. Maybe a bit older. She looked to be in her early 20's.
From the way he said this, he would prefer it if I wore a dress. But I wasn't raised like a princess, so why should I dress like one?
I followed the maid up the long winding staircases up to my room. It would take a while for me to remember my way around. At last, she took me to a beautiful oak door. I don't know what I was expecting. Like my room to be bright pink like in fairytales or what, but when she opened the door, it was like the air was knocked out of my chest. It was amazing. The walls were pale blue, it was wide and open, sunlight poured through the windows lighting everything up. The bed was huge and four-poster. I loved it. It was like my dream room. She pulled the door closed behind me as I walked in, taking in every detail.
"Wow," I said.
Mia smiled and hurried over to what looked like another room. But when she opened the door it was another room. But it was a closet. She walked in and disappeared. After a minute, I followed. I look around and I am shocked.
Mia came back with a royal blue gown. It was beautiful, but not my style.
"Ummm.....Can I wear something else? Maybe?" I asked nervously.
"Oh! Of course, Miss!"
"Oh no! Please don't call me Miss. Call me Sabrina."
"Alright then.....Sabrina."
She hurried off to find another outfit for me. She came back holding a low cut, black dress with an open back.
"Omg. It's beautiful!"
I loved it because it was plain and simple. Like me. She smiled again and handed it to me.
"Thank you!"
I ran into the changing room. I slipped the dress over my head and looked in the mirror. I tossed my hair a bit and walked out. Mia came back around the corner and handed me a pair of black, strappy heels. I slipped them on and they were so comfortable.
"Follow me," Mia said, she turned and quickly walked off. I followed her around a few corners and finally through a large pink door. As I stepped inside, I saw that it was very colorful. I then realized it was a makeup booth. Mia sat me down and turned me to face the mirror.
"Hannah!" She called without looking over her shoulder.
"Yes, Mia?" A questioning reply came back.
"I have the Mistress in here, waiting for you," Mia said smoothly.
A girl around 18 came out. She took one look and me and gasped.
"My goodness girl! You're stunning!" She said fingering my waves.
"Oh! Well, thank you, Hannah." I said turning beet red.
Mia walked to the door and said, "I'll be back soon." And walked out.
Hannah looked at me, scrutinizing me. Finally, she turned to all of her makeup. (Most of them I had no idea what they were.) She then turned me away from the mirror and started adding color to my cheeks.
"Well, Sabrina. You look so much like your mother." She said sighing.
"Really?"
"Of course! Ever since you were a tiny baby."
"You knew me when I was a baby?" I said shocked.
"Yes! You were the cutest thing."
"Thank you," I said and closed my eyes. She had started doing eyeshadow.
A few minutes later, she turned me around to look in the mirror. She had put a mix of red, purple and silver on my eyelids and enough color on my cheeks to make them lightly rosy.
"Thank you, Hannah," I said admiring my new look.
"No problemo. It's my job."
"Mia!" Hannah called over her shoulder. "Sabrina is ready to meet the family."
