(By the way in this AU Tony never sells the tower just for convenience)

"Boss, there seems to be some sort of high radiation reading near the state of Pennsylvania."

It was the early morning, and Tony was just sitting at the counter drinking a cup of coffee.
Tony grunted. "Friday let me finish my coffee. Just load up the location and any security footage."

"I can show you the location but there's no footage."
"Ugh, just had to make it hard for me. Pull up the map."

A blue holographic screen popped up in front of him and a map appeared on it. It zoomed in on a sort of meadow with the signature Bifrost engraving burned into the ground.

Tony, seeing the symbol of the Bifrost, slammed his coffee against the table.
"FRIDAY GET MY SUIT."

The suit flew onto him and he ran to the elevator door.

Once outside, Tony flew upwards.
"Friday, show me the location again."

Tony landed in the meadow and looked around. He didn't hear anything.
He walked forward and saw the Bifrost engraving burned into the ground.

Thor was here, he thought. He ran towards the engraving and looked around. He saw a small figure hiding in the grass. It was obvious that it was breathing, but it wasn't moving other than that. Tony walked towards it with his hand held out in defense.

The figure was a body, of a taller man. He had a ripped green shirt on and long black pants. He had a cloth bag over their head, too.
But he looked almost like a skeleton. His skin was extremely pale and his skin was showing a lot of his skeletal frame.
He also had large red burn marks on his hands and cuts down his arms.

Tony pulled the bag off of the mans head and stepped back in shock.

It was Loki, though he looked extremely beat up. He barely looked like himself anymore. He could see Loki's skull under his skin, and Loki's entire mouth was covered in blood.

That's when Tony realized his mouth had been sewn shut.

Tony started hyperventilating, a worried look on his face. What?

Loki opened his eyes and squinted, looking around him. He saw tony, and his eyes widened. He opened his mouth to talk, but then yelled in pain from the string pulling at his lips.

Tony held his hand out in defense at whatever Loki was about to do. But he did nothing.
He lowered his arm.

Tony didn't know what to think. Loki looked absolutely beat up and almost dead, but at the same time after what happened during the battle of New York haunted him.

He looked at Loki, who looked terrified.

Tony stared at him for a bit, grunted, and picked Loki up. He was surprisingly light, and Tony picked him up easily.

Loki looked even more scared, his breathing becoming even more labored than it already was and tensing up.

•••

Tony landed on the very top of the tower and put Loki down. Loki immediately fell to the floor, not able to support himself.

What the hell even happened to Loki?

Tony picked Loki up and carried him to the living area of the tower and put him on a couch.
Loki slowly moved his hand to his face and touched his sewn mouth.
Tony went over, grabbed a tissue and a small pair of scissors, and walked back over to Loki.

Loki sat still as Tony cut the sting between Loki's lips. He slowly pulled out the string as Loki tried not to flinch.
When he was done, he dabbed Loki's mouth with the tissue he had gotten.

"Here, hold it there." Tony said. Loki took the tissue and did as he was told as Tony cleaned up the bloody bits of stringer had to pull out of Loki's face.

Tony walked behind a counter and poured himself another cup of coffee. "So Loki, how did.... that..... happen?"

Loki's voice was an almost inaudible whisper. "It was my punishment after what I did to New York."

"Yeah, um so why didn't they just kill you?"

"I tried that."

Tony went silent.

"You tried to kill yourself?"
