Lin Xiao Yu never really had any good relations with her siblings, even if they were only related to her because they had the same father. All she knew was that none of them she loved. They despised her and so, she returned the despise. However, unlike the many times they had displayed their hatred for her, she was never given any moments to show her hatred for them.

The one she hated the most was the elder brother who couldn't care less about her. In fact, he couldn't care less about anyone.

Madam Lin had kept the elder brother as a gift. She was hoping to find the right beauty for him and marry him off, and then be able to milk the power the connection of the marriage between the two. Yes, Madam Lin was devious but she spared no love to get in the way for her thirst for power.

The elder brother was Young Master Lin Lian Yi. He was a person of mystery and liked to keep to himself. He barely had any female servants. He was most mysterious at night because he always sent his bodyguard off somewhere and always get a light open in his room.

Of course, when he was younger, they assumed he was afraid of the dark because on one occasion, his father accidentally told a scary story that terrified the young master endlessly. They had assumed he would grow out of his phase and he did. However, keeping the light open at night was a mystery.

None had bothered to inquire about it, not even his mother.

Xiao Yu had felt the most hate to him because he did nothing to help, support, or even try to protect her. At a late age, she had realized she meant nothing to him. He didn't regard as a sister; no, he regarded her as the trash of the Lin Manor.

He was the brother who couldn't care less.

She knew he didn't even think of her the day he told her:

'You are nothing to me so please, don't come to me anymore. You're on your own until you find a husband who will care and nurture you.'

That day, the love she felt that out of reach turned to hatred within grasp. So what if she couldn't hear a thing? When he wrote those words down on her palm, she decided from that day on, she wouldn't be reliant on anyone.

'Lin Lian Yi...I will come for you...'

...

'However, I must take care of that bitchy head maid...'

So what if Lin Xiao Yu couldn't hear? When someone is deaf, they cannot speak. So what? This didn't change anything. Yes, she is a white lotus. But who cares? As long as she can survive being a white lotus, she wouldn't mind being one.

The reason why Lin Xiao Yu never reacted was because she lacked proper nutrition. Ever since her mother died and her father lost expectation in her, she had always been starved, even before the head maid was promoted. Everyone in the manor, especially the maids, were just waiting for someone above them to be let down for them to bully. So, in general, the maids held contempt and scornful views to their superiors but they hid it all secretly if it tampered their superiors' image (the most scornful maids don't actually care if their superiors' image was tampered; their image as a maid was definitely more important to them).

That day, after a beating from the head maid that constantly forgot she was deaf, she returned back to her quarters, which had been stripped of most things valuable by the head maid. Since the Prime Minister nor Madam Lin even visited Lin Xiao Yu, it was reasonable as to why the head maid would steal things that should've belonged to her and got away with it. After all, an illegitimate deaf girl was no importance.

Lin Lian Yi was a simple man who lived a little ways distance from Lin Xiao Yu's quarters. He diverted away from drama and from everything, making him a solemn man with little complaints. All servants (especially the females) knew to avoid the place. Some even said the place was reeking of dark aura.

...

In the courtyard, Lin Xiao Yu locked everything. In the darkness of her own room, she lit up only one candle, which wasn't even enough to illuminate everything. Tonight was the day she would revenge against the brother who watched her getting beaten and did nothing.

'Lin Lian Yi, the night is young...prepare yourself....I'm coming...for revenge...'
