??? POV
If you close your eyes you still see warm light speckling your vision.
If you repair a broken vase you still feel the cracks.
If you loved someone you never forget them.
No matter how hard you try.
No matter how deep you cut.
No matter what the world says.
When you finally look back,
will you ignore the scars?
Or will you make them part of yourself?
Third Person POV
Tom's eyes fluttered open as a soft hand shook him gently. He raised his head to meet two heterochromatic eyes staring right back. Sputtering in his tired state he nearly fell backward in the crappy hospital chair.
Tord gave him a meager smile, a reminder of what things were before. He so badly wanted to melt into it, go back to what life was before. Tranquil and content, not this mess he'd made.
If life had a back button how far would Tom go back, he wondered in that fleeting moment?
To before they'd met? Save them the ache of their hearts, but also the warmth? Or to their love's prime, a short joy inescapably leading to more misery.
But life was never going to give them that, it never did.
That was selfish of him to assume he was special, above consequences. So, so, selfish.
One of the many things that never had changed even after all this time.
Old habits die hard he supposed.
