Kate
Eggs, milk, fruit, ooooh cocoa puffs. I love cocoa puffs.
I'm making my grocery list while Rose is getting ready. Today was shopping day.
"Come on Rose! We don't have all day!"
"Give me two minutes!"
Orange juice, pasta, chips....
"Rose, it's been five minutes!"
"Okay, okay I'm done."
"Let's go."
We grab our coats and begin our journey to the store. There is a grocery store that's five minutes from our apartment and that is where we usually go to get our food.
As we walk through the doors, the warm air starts to defrost our red noses. It was really cold this morning.
"Rose can you please grab a basket?"
"Yeah."
"Why did you grab two?"
"Because I know you, and I know me. We're going to need another one anyway, so might as well already get it. Especially when we pass the buy one get one free. You know just because it's buy one get one free doesn't mean that we have to buy it if we don't need it."
"Well, we might need it!"
"Are we really going to need two jars of pickles?"
"I love pickles!"
"Well I hate them!"
"I'm older!"
" But I'm going to have to smell it!"
"Plug your nose."
"Ughhhhh we already have a jar at home."
"I'm paying anyway so ha, I'm buying them."
Rose playfully rolls her eyes.
"Fine. But you're buying me chocolate!"
"Deal. Let's get the fruit first."
I walk up to the huge case of apples starting to pick out the best ones.
"Rose want any bananas?" I asked just to poke fun at her.
"EWWWWW I hate bananas!!! What kind of question is that?! You hate them too!"
"There not that bad."
"Completely covering them in peanut butter doesn't count."
"Touche."
Onto the cucumbers. 1...2...3..
"ANDREW!!!" Rose shouts and runs across the produce section almost knocking down the oranges.
Ah fiddlesticks. I had a feeling this would happen. Oh my goodness, I'm starting to sound like May with her prophetic feelings.
I catch a glimpse of them from the corner of my eyes and I hear an employee yell, "Slow down!" Rose finally reaches him and with arms outstretched he catches her from almost falling on her face. I laugh quietly to myself. Rose is so clumsy.
"Hey Rose! How's it going?" He stares down at her and she beams a huge smile at him.
"Eh, I'd rather be somewhere else, but I'm not complaining."
I slowly turn and make eye contact with him.
"Hello Andrew." I say quietly trying to rid us of some stares from other shoppers who were stopping to see what the commotion was all about.
