Bonus Chapter
Kate
Beep, beep, beep.
"Ughhhh" Come on Kate you gotta get up! I chant in my head right before I press the snooze button, ehh five minutes never killed anyone.
*One hour later*
And this is why you never snooze your alarm clock. I had just finished walking Rose to school and was able to grab a taxi.
After telling the driver my destination, I unlocked my phone and pressed the first contact under my favorites.
"Hey mama! What's uppppp?"
"Hey Trevor, I need to ask you for a favor."
"What kind of favor?"
"The kind that involves me being eternally grateful."
"Will I receive our usual payment?"
"Yes, the payment will be placed in the freezer as usual, and a spoon on the counter upon arrival." As soon as those words left my mouth I saw the taxi driver shoot me a nervous look and slowly glance at his phone. Great now he probably thinks I'm running some sort of drug ring who delivers drugs in freezers.
"Okay, I'm in. What do you need?"
"I'm going out on Saturday night and I need you to hang out with Rose for a few hours."
"Why? What are you going to do? You don't have a life."
"I'm going out with a friend. And I do too have a life, I wouldn't be talking to you right now if I didn't."
"First of all, you know what I meant. Second of all, please tell me you finally got the boss to ask you out. Imma be hella pissed if it's Gary from accounting."
"If you must know, May wanted me to go to her knitting club."
"Kate. You've got to be shitting me. You, a 23 year old single woman is going to a knitting club meeting on a Saturday night?! You really do have no life."
"Maybe my prince charming is brushing up on his knitting skills, but, thanks to you I'm stuck going to yoga with Rita." The driver was starting to look paler by the passing minute.
"Kate, if your Prince Charming is at a knitting club meeting on a Saturday night, chances are he's my Prince Charming." Fair point.
"Don't forget that Andrew is going with you! Wait... you're going today?" He continues. I had been dragged into this two days earlier but Rita insisted that we go today. Andrew gave us all the day off, so it could have been worse.
"Yeah it's today, thanks to you." I grumble.
"Yeah, yeah whatever. I gotta go.... and make a call, see you later."
"You? Actually making a call, and working? Now that's what I call a miracle."
"Bye Kit-kat."
The taxi comes to a stop as we reached the address and I turn towards the driver.
" It- be fifteen dollars." the driver stated in broken English.
I hand him a twenty, and opened the car door, but before leaving I felt compelled to offer him an explanation on the very weird conversation he had just heard.
I leaned into the car and commented rather loudly, "I swear I'm not a drug dealer!"
"Is there something you do on the side that you aren't telling me Kate?" A voice came from behind me causing me to jump and almost fall if it weren't for the strong arms grabbing my waist.
