Chapter 10 : I Hate You
"No!" Emilia screamed in her head. She ran towards desire hoping to stop her.
The explosion had sent a massive shock wave in all directions and knocked away the fog revealing the dead trees and decilet frost covered ground. Finally the dark mind that was hidden from her for so long was visible. Memories that should have been covered by a thick fog of lies.
Finally the two could see everything. The ground was ugly with painful memories. Emilia stared off into the endless wastes. "desire what is this?" she asked desperately. "please don't tell me this is my life." up until this point emilia, along with desires help, had deluded herself into thinking she lived a perfectly happy life. She believed everything was happy and buried everything that wasn't into a shroud of nothingness as if it hadn't happened.
Emilias body took another step forward closer to abigail.
"Now you see what I've been working for!" screamed desire. "if only we could have made him fall in love with us this would all disappear!" she continued.
"that will never work," cried emilia. "he doesn't love us!" She screamed trying to plead with her.
Desire's body roared with heat and flames. She shouted, "Then we will make him! " she sounded like she was about to cry. then with a blaze of fire she flew into the sky.
Emilia jumped up a floating piece of debris up towards desire. "Desire calm down," emilia screamed, but it was hopeless Desire ignored her, and emilia leapt to another piece. Heat swelled around her with hot dry wind that pounded her skin and whipped her face. She screamed again, "desire! Its ok!" she screamed as loud as she could but not be heard over the terrible wind that drowned out her voice.
Black fog began to form around desire and the immense light that once blinded the landscape began to fade. Emilia could look out and see everything that it once had hidden. In its wake left a empty landscape of long forgotten memories and lies shes told herself. In the distance were seas of despair and even further were mountains of loneliness. There was not a happy memory in sight for neither emilia nor desire.
"Desire lived in this?" emilia asked herself. Everything was ugly, dark, and terrible. Desire lived in her mind completely alone for years. It was no wonder why she covered it in a thick fog of lies so she couldn't remember it.
wispss flew towards her striking her several times. Thoughts of herself spun through her mind. "useless, ugly, manipulative." words that at that time made completely sense to her spun through her head. For every one that hit her a dozen flew into the black mass above her.
"she's still protecting me," emilia said to herself. "and I'm doing nothing for her" she continued. A cold wind blew at her skin, a wind so cold it could never be forgotten. "desire always hated the cold," she said to herself. "it's no wonder she was always cold," emilia said taking cover from the wind. She took another look out at the barren land of memories. A land that should have been full of warmth and love was cold and empty.
"There's really nothing i can do," She said staring out over the icy landscape. "It's completely hopeless," she said trying to hold back tears. It was impossible to for very long. Tears dripped down her cheek and slowly froze to her face.
Without desires warmth and protection she was lost and cold. The heat of her love was gone and nowhere to be found. Emilia took one last look out over the tundra, but this time something caught her eye. She leaned in closer and got hit in the face by a rough wisps. "ouch, stupid thing! Not now," she leaned out over the edge again. "there's some green out there!" she said to herself. Which was true out across the ice ground stood a lonely flower braced against the wind. It grew on love alone in spite of the onslaught of every negative emotion the mind could throw at it.
On the flower a single solitary idea could be gotten from it. Not even a complete sentence, in fact only a single word encapsulated the message of love it gave off. "abigail," emilia said to herself. The mere idea of it filled emilia with a warmth so profound that it completely overpowered the icy cold that was assaulting her.
Emilia stood up against the wind. It was icy, and it was painful. Emilia didn't care about either. she knew she couldn't give up. Not on herself, not abigail, not even desire. Not to mention now she knew what she had to do.
Emilias body took another step closer to abigail.
Emilia just and dashed over floating pieces of debris all the while wispss continued to strike her. Finally she reached the black swarming mass of darkness. There was no visible way in or debris to jump to. She took a leap of faith and jump.
She flew for a few seconds before she felt herself begin to fall. Down she fell before she was hit by something traveling upwards.
Emilia was on a large piece of floating debris. Up it traveled through the fog and into the interior of the mass. Flames swirled and danced all over in massive rings. In the center was desire, standing on a small platform, with massive flames flying off her body upward and then breaking apart to form the massive ring. The debris swung close the desire then stopped suddenly, making emilia skid across it.
"go away emilia," bellowed desire. The air burned emilia's skin and it hurt to speak. "NO I WON'T," she shouted.
Emilia's body came closer to abigail, who was throwing out her arms in self defense.
The distance to desire was large. It was large enough she couldn't juet hope across like she had been. but it was just short enough for a running jump to desires platform.
"don't think about it emilia. you will get hurt," desire called to emilia desperately. "please i beg you to turn back. I don't want you to get hurt anymore."
She made a running start then jumped. She flew for agonizing seconds through fire and heat, them both burning her skin and making large flakes come off as ash, but emilia was undeterred. She landed on the platform running. She ran directly towards desire and jumped to her.
"NO," desire screamed, but she was too late and powerless to stop her.
Emilia flew into her and embraced her in a hug. Fire kept burning off pieces of her, but the heat was more intense for desire. The warmth of another person was much hotter than any heat or flame she had ever suffered. Except this heat didn't hurt desire. In fact it felt nice.
"its ok, its ok." emilia said to her calmly and sympathetically while bits of her burned skin still fell off.
Desire had never been hugged before. She knew full well just how much the heat hurt emilia, but she kept hugging her anyway. Her flames started to burn down and down until the fire disappeared all together.
Back in the classroom emilia stopped just before she got to abigail.
In emilia's arms desire transformed into a younger version of emilia. Emilia stroked her hair. And said, "its okay, its okay." desire began to cry into emilias shoulder.
"no one ever loved me." she cried into emilia's shoulder. For once something came out of her that wasn't heat and fire.
"Wrong," said emilia, "i love you." she squeezed desire tighter. Desire just held her back in her arms while small tears streamed down her cheek.
Emilia gets grabbed by Mr. Anderson and forced down to the ground.
