Chapter 6 : I Don't Like Remembering

Emilia found herself in her old house.  It had suddenly appeared around them out of the fog. The room they were in was the front room.  Along the wall near the front door there were coat hangers filled with many different coats and shoes. All of them were ordered neatly. The room was so nostalgic for emilia she hadn't been there in years.

A soft humming noise caught emilia's attention. It was soft and difficult to determine, but emilia found a strange familiarity in it. It sounded like voices on the other side of a thick wall.  From behind her she heard to door open.  In the doorway was emilia well atleast a younger version of herself anyway. She was about eleven at the time. Her hair was tangled her elbows were scraped and she had tears running down her face.

All at once memories came flooding back. "i remember this day," said emilia.

Desire scoffed playfully. "of course you do. This is your past," she replied.

That day emilia got into an altercation with another girl who was much bigger that her, and she got hurt badly.

"it was such a horrible day. I was pushed down by some bullies at school and i just wanted to be alone." replied emilia.

"no you didn't, " retorted desire. "watch," she said pointing to emilia's younger self.

Just then the sounds became clear. In the other room loud arguing could be heard as the younger emilia walked into the room while crying gently. Emilia and desire followed her. Before they voices from that room were only soft hums, and no words could be heard clearly. After they entered however all could be heard clearly. Emilia's mother and father were talking. Well rather they were arguing.

"Listen all im saying is you could stand to come back home earlier rather than going to the bar," said emilia's mother.

Emilias father didn't seem too pleased. "Oh i see me going to the bar is a problem while you going out with friends isn't," he retorted.

That just made her mother more angry. She responded by saying, "My job is very stressful." she stomped her foot like a child.

"Well so is mine maria," he said, growing ever more annoyed by the second.

"mom, dad i got hurt," younger emilia spoke up finally. She had been standing there for almost a minute and neither had even noticed her.

Emilias mother expression changed instantly from annoyance to an obviously fake one of happiness as if nothing had just happened. "oh I'm sorry to hear that sweetie," her mother said in her best motherly tone she could. "here's a bandage. Im sorry but me and dad are talking, so could you give us some privacy?" she handed younger emilia a bandage and gently nudged her to leave, and as she left a small little flying wisps hit her while she left although she didn't show anything emilia knew she felt it.

Emilia spoke to desire, "i don't remember this part." she sounded confused.

Desire said nothing and gestured to follow her. They followed emilia's younger self to her room. Emilia's room was small compared to the rest of the house, which was decently large but not mansion sized. In her room was a bed, a television on top of her dresser, and a few shelves that had everything from books to toys on them. The younger emilia sat down on her bed and began applying the bandages to her cuts.

Emilia was confused. The whole situation she found herself in had her perplexed. She finally asked, "this is all well and good but why are you showing me this?"  Desire simply pointed back to the younger emilia.

A small flame lit into life right next to emilia barely larger than a candle flame. younger Emilia didn't flinch as if it wasn't even there to begin with. Then all of a sudden it burst forth into a little girl just about the size of emilia as she was then.
