I know I said some smut would be next, but this idea was too cute to not write. I don't own the image above. Also, think of this as if the outbreak occurred later. It was a very slow day at work, what with the captain away for business and all, so everyone relaxed. Chris sat at his desk and glanced over to the brunette beside him and watched as she munched on her breakfast. The woman noticed him staring and raised a brow. "What?"
The man blinked twice and shook his head. "Nothing," he said, "it's just that things are moving so slow today."
"That tends to happen when Wesker is out for the day," she told him.
He closed his eyes and propped his head up with his arm before he let out a small sigh. "I know, but you also know I hate days like these, Jill."
"Why not go do something?" She suggested. "You're not restricted to this office, you know. Go see the dogs, head to the library, or even mingle with fellow officers."
Chris pondered over it for a bit. Getting out of this stuffy office would do him some good, probably. "Alright, I'll go find something to do. I need to stretch my legs, anyway." Jill watched as her co-worker opened his eyes, stood from his seat and exited out the office door. Chris turned left after exiting the room, walked down the hallway and entered another room that led to the library.
His eyes looked around the room and he noticed how vacant it was. At least two others were in the large space, including himself, but they were wrapped up in research for a case, no doubt. Though the library was usually like this on slow days. Any other day and it'd be full of officers and detectives trying to find something relevant to their current assignment. The man took one last look around the room before he exited out into the main hall. His eyes widened with how busy it was on the floor below him. Officers hustled here and there, bringing criminals inside and leading others, possibly victims of a petty crime, outside.
"Mr. Redfield!" Chris blinked upon hearing his name called and looked around before his eyes landed on a familiar face. "Mr. Redfield, sir, could you please come down here a moment?" The brunette was quick to walk down the staircase and to the person who called out to him. Leon Kennedy, a rookie cop who joined the force about three weeks ago. He was a breath of fresh air to his department and had a big boy scout demeanor, which a lot of the senior officers thought was cute. "Good morning, sir," smiled the rookie.
"Chris," he said, "just call me Chris, please." He didn't like being called "sir", at least not yet. He didn't feel old enough for it, but he knew the reason was because he was higher up and that the rookie was just being respectful.
Leon nodded. "Yes si--I mean Chris," he said, correcting himself. The young man then cleared his throat before he showed a half smile. "I, uh, have someone here for you." Chris cocked a brow at the cop.
"Someone here for me? Who?" He questioned.
Leon stepped to the side and gestured to a little boy who couldn't have been but five or six years old. The S.T.A.R.S. member stared at the child before looking back to the officer with his brow still raised. "A woman came by and dropped him off. She said that, um, well... She said that you were his father. I wasn't able to get her name because she left in a hurry."
Son? His? Chris looked back down at the little boy with wide eyes before he knelt down to the kid's height. The child had (h/c) hair and azure eyes to match Chris's. The man let out a shaky breath before he smiled softly and held a hand out to the boy. "Hi there," he greeted, "my name's Chris. What's yours?"
The child was shy and stared down at the floor for a minute before he looked to Chris. "(Y/n)," he said.
"Well, (Y/n), it's nice to meet you. Is your mom coming to get you later?" The brunette asked.
