So first, SEXUAL ASSULT AND OTHER ABUSE IS BEING MENTIONED IN THIS CHAPTER KIND OF A LOT AND IT IS VERY SAD AND PROBABLY VERY INACCURATE COMPARED TO THE COMICS BUT THIS IS AN AU SO . . . YEAH, THAT TENDS TO HAPPEN.
But yeah, so I talk about abuse and sexual assult in this chapter. I'm trying not to be too vivid on it, but it's hard not to be, so if you have ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL WITH SEXUAL ASSULT OR ABUSE TRIGGERS, PLEASE DO NOT READ THIS CHAPTER.
If you have problems with triggers and the like but still want to know what happens, you can ask me about it through private message or on my message board or whatever, but I don't want to put anyone's mental and/or emotional health at risk because of anything I write (Unless you're talking about shipping feels, because as my writer, I have to give you those whenever I get the chance. It's my job.)
And this is the first trigger warning I've ever had to give, but I figured it was the right thing to do because I've seen other ones. I don't think it's very graphic, but I don't want to try and speak for someone else or hurt anyone with what I write.
That's not why I wrote this.
Make sure to tell me what you think if you do read it though, because I will also be doing some editing in a week or so.
Thank you.

Charles
Charles made himself invisible throughout his life.
His father would always try to push him to better himself. "Charles," He would whisper things to Charles at night instead of reading stories because Charles always knew the endings before Father ever got there. "Charles, you have a better footing than everyone else." he would say. "You can know who loves you for you." But Charles didn't want to use his mind on his friends, he decided. And when his father died and wine started depleting in his mother's wine cellar, at an alarming rate, Charles closed in one himself again.
Raven showed up not long after.
Raven was the light of his life for so long. They played merrily in the halls of the mansion as his mother would disappear from room to room. They raised themselves, rough at times and easier at others. They were all each other had, though, so they loved each other and latched on like they were drowning.
But Charles learned, very young, that with the good, came the immediate bad, because Kurt and Cain came to live with them not a year after Raven arrived.
It wasn't very gradual and Raven was very oblivious, despite her guard being up so high when she first came to the mansion. Just, one day in the summer, Kurt and Cain showed up at the door with bags in hand. Raven used to blame her 'innocence' Charles's spoiling of her. Used to laugh about how Charles practically had her locked up like his favortie toy, but Charles never saw fault in that, even through the worst times.
It's not like Raven didn't do the same, either. He still remembers one trip he went on with one of chefs when his mother ran out fo whiskey. They went to a park, long story short, and Raven broke a little boy's nose when he asked Charles to be his best friend.
When he has to remember all the bad that had happened in their lives, he likes to smile at that memory
Kurt was very distant at first, and didn't come out of the lab much. Never did Charles ask about Kurt's job or why he was there or if his mother and Kurt were going to get married. And this pleased Kurt, to some degree. In turn, Kurt never asked about Raven, or why she was blonde sometimes and a redhead other times. He never asked why he sometimes he felt something in the back of his head that had no connection to him; why sometimes he daydreamed about things that had never happened to him from the mind of someone who could barely reach the light-switch. And sometimes, Charles thinks that it was his fault. (His powers had manifested far too early, and it's not like he had ever experienced many people all at once.) But whatever it was, it was enough to give them at least a little more good time.
