Chapter 9: Betrayal

 A/N I was a little lazy today so kind of a short chapter for today.... Also song of the chapter is Icarus by Madeon.

                 Ender's P.O.V

   The new girl had told me her name was Caitlin and I kinda liked her name. "That's a pretty name" I compliment her while we walk down the concrete street.

  The others had already ran behind the wall of a building as a group of guards turned the corner and that left me and Caitlin alone in the middle of the street.

   I saw Caitlin looking at a guy with brown hair and dressed in a what I assumed too be the uniform for guards. It was nothing too over the top for a guard, it almost kinda looked like he was straight out of Assassin's Creed...

  A simple white top could be seen through his gray jacket that had a silver line at the end of the sleeves and and edges of the jacket which ended at his knees.

  On his waist was a leather belt that had room for a knife and gun (which he had out ready to shot). He had brown leather boots with little buckles on the side and everything.

  He was with a group of guards, about six at least, that each had their guns drawn ready to shot Caitlin and me. The rest of the group already on the next street. Fear was settling in for me as Caitlin wouldn't move like she was frozen in terror.....

  I was behind Caitlin and she gulped and flung her arms out, sheilding me. I knew what was happening and reacted fast. I jumped in front of Caitlin and heard the gun shot.

  I screamed in pain as the bullet come into contact with my stomach and I felt a warm liquid gushing out. Then darkness....

                 Caitlin's P.O.V

  Had I really just seen a girl get shot in front of my eyes!! I ran over too Ender and tried to cover the wound as best as I could. Vince had looked extremely guilty.

I had tears stinging my eyes. She barely knew me and yet she risked her life for mine. "SHE DIDN'T DESERVE THIS!!!" I yell as I tried too pick her up. Vince had ran over too me and tried too help me pick her up, I was out right disgusted!

"WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO HELP ME NOW!! IT'S YOUR FAULT!!!" my anger was rising. Normally am more quiet but this had took it's toll on me. He tried to apologize, why would he hurt a girl that was trying to protect someone!! Especially when his target was me!!

  Yet I still care for him....

  A/N So I was feeling pretty evil writing this... :3 MUHAHAHA!!! Anywho I apologize for a short chapter but am trying to balence about two other stories at the moment and not too mention school is resuming  soon and I still have to finish my halloween costume!! -.- Yes it is basically a month away but I don't like stress...
