Gielle's P.O.V.
"Hey, baby, be careful. I don't want you hurting yourself." I called to my son, Connor, gently. I smiled and raised an eyebrow as the 5 year old whined at me, and then ran around the wood chips as he tried climbing up the slide. Yeah, he was Austin's son, alright.
I got up and sighed, stuffing my hands into my pockets, and I stood by the slide and nervously put my hand out in case he fell back. Connor was my pride and joy, and as much as I wanted Austin and I to be back together and work things out, I knew that would never happen... I gave up trying to make Alan, or try to make him, scared of me and scared of the possibilty of falling in love with Austin.
Connor squeaked as he fell back, and I grunted as I swiftly went into protective momma bear mode and made sure to catch the large boy with my hands. I groaned as the boy giggled and squirmed in my grasp.
"Dammit- I mean, CONNOR, be careful!" I groaned, and he pouted and glanced up at me with his big brown eyes. I sighed deeply, and he grinned and gently touched my cheek.
"You said a naughty word." He purred, and I rolled my eyes and turned my head, gently kissing his palm. I slid him off of the slide and placed him onto the ground and patted his butt, making him squeak, and then wave at my hands. He ran off, and I sighed and sat down onto the ground.
Being a single mom was pretty damn hard sometimes.
I glanced up and ran my fingers through my hair as I went through things in my head. I bit my lip and closed my eyes, pressing my knees up against my chest. Alan had Austin, so that meant Austin had finally moved on. If I hadn't done those bitchy things to him, he'd still be mine, and we'd be helping raise Connor... TOGETHER.
Connor is a spit image of Austin; the hair, the eyes, the little freckles, the lips... The only thing he really has of mine is... Well... He's headstrong, and compared to Austin, he's a little quieter.
I was relieved when Alan agreed to make peace with me, and debated on whether we should both chip in to help get something great for Austin when he graduated. Smart old me thought of showing him our son on graduation, and maybe that was a bad idea, since they had never met.
As time went by, Connor grew more curious about his dad, and I was reluctant to talk about him TOO much, afraid he'd want to run off and find him. He would ask questions about what he was like, what his favorite food was, if he liked art and music... I wish Austin were here with me.
"Connor, can you come here for a second?" I called out, pushing my hair back once more and sniffed, batting my mascara coated eyelashes. The boy smiled and ran over, wrapping his small arms around my neck and leaned against me.
"Yeah, mommy?" He asked softly, and I sighed and gently pressed a kiss to his jaw.
"How do you feel about daddy having a boyfriend?" I murmured, raising an eyebrow. Connor just stayed quiet, before smiling and his nose crinkled.
"If Daddy is happy, then I'm happy. Same with you, Mommy. I love you, and I love Daddy. I love his boyfriend, too. I want one!!!" He whined, and I couldn't help but start to laugh, and I quickly covered my mouth and giggled.
"Connor, you are WAY to young! I suppose though, that you are a very attractive little boy, and you'll win the hearts of many men and women." I smiled and poked his chest, where his heart would be. Connor squealed as I started to tickle him, and he fell back, and I leaned down and laughed, blowing a raspberry into his cheek. He giggled and pushed on my face, and I playfully nibbled his hand.
