A/N: This sonnet is a soliloquy written from Juliet's perspective right after Act 1 Scene 4 of Romeo and Juliet when her mother talks to her of a potential marriage with Paris.
Go and seek happy nights to happy days?
At thirteen years, marriage I think not of
To the divine Lord above I do pray
That I will not be forced to find a love
I know not of the mysteries of men
And I truly know nothing of romance
Give me a year or two, and maybe then
Will I be more inclined to take a glance
I cannot be made a mother just yet
And I am not eager about this match
I am not ready for my heart to let
But I must unlock it's tightly seal'd latch
As happy marriage is my parents' will
Although I hate my duty to fulfill
