"Ugh!" I sighed in relief after completing my final exam. The years of stress and late night studying were finally over. There will be no more exams, quizzes or tests. Thanks be to the heavens!
As I walked out of the Biology classroom to go to the bus stop, Tiffany popped out of nowhere screaming my name.
"Shanice! Shanice! I missed you!"she ran up to me, throwing her arms around my waist, literally squeezing the life out of me.
"Okay...but...not so tight." I managed to say while I slipped out of her grip. This girl is something else. She knows that I do not like affection but yet still she demonstrates it every chance she gets. I guess she enjoys seeing me squirm.
"Fine. So we are going to the mall for our outfits for tomorrow." she stated matter-of-factly.
"Why?" I replied. " I already have clothes in my closet." All I wanted to do right now was go home, take the tub of cookie dough ice-cream to my room and eat to my heart's content and then curl up underneath my blanket and sleep for a full week. I deserved it after four hectic years of college.
"Girl, no disrespect but you should donate those baggy clothes to the Salvation Army." "Since you lost weight those clothes don't do anything for your body." Tiffany said pointedly, scrunching the bridge of her nose. "Besides, I have a reputation to uphold. I can't have you going out with me looking like that."
Pulling at the extra-large t-shirt I had on with oversized cargo pants, I looked down at my clothes. My closet was literally filled with items like these. It was my go-to style. They were so comfortable but she did have a point. I would look like a fool wearing these frumpy clothes to a party. Maybe a medium-sized t-shirt and jeans would be better instead.
"Fine...I'll go with you."
