How high was the possibility of Jackson actually returning? I kept wondering as the clock on the wall ticked ever so rhythmically, another lesson passing by in the blink of an eye.
"Miss Choi, would you mind at least looking at the board?", the shrill voice of my toicher rang through my ears, disrupting whatever conclusion I was trying to approach.
"I'm sorry", I quickly bowed. The giggles next to me grew louder.
"As your punishment, you'll help the janitor after class", my teacher seemed satisfied with her verdict and returned to teaching. Sigh.
Yuta gave me a sympathetic smile "Kinda deserved that one"
There were about a thousand other things I'd rather have done than help the slightly creepy janitor. As I approached his office, I felt the immediate need to pull my skirt down, his heavy breathing audible on the entire hallway. Gross.
After he had given me some boxes to carry around, I fell into a mindless workflow, hoping for time to pass by quicker. I was only interrupted by the faint voices down the corridor - shouldn't the school be empty at this time?
My curiosity was as insatiable as always but now was not the time, so I pushed it aside and went back to moving the boxes. After I had passed the hallway three more times, the voices seemed to get closer.
Against my instinct to listen, I continued working. However, I couldn't help but catch little bits of the conversation.
"Thank you so much for you giving us this opportunity" "We cherish talent at this school"
It went silent for a while as I shuffled around, grabbing another box. It was probably just some parent who had missed the enrollment deadline.
With a sigh, I stepped outside the room once again, this time clearly hearing the conversation.
"It's good to have you back, Mr. Wang"
I almost dropped the box, my head spinning to the left.
"Seems like fate, doesn't it?"
Jackson's eyes pierced into mine.
