Jackson smiled at me as I took another bite "Do you like it?"
I nodded, it actually tasted quite nice. Still, I wondered why he had brought me to the library just to eat.
"I'm glad, I spent a couple hours figuring out which recipe to choose", he chuckled.
His happy expression turned to concern as I choked on the food "You did WHAT?"
"I cooked this for you", Jackson repeated with a clueless expression "and I thought that if you liked it, maybe I could do it more often and we could also cook together and -"
I help up a hand to stop him, some grains of rice still stuck in my throat "Jackson, this is exactly what I meant by >too much<"
"But it's just a cute gesture. Don't you like cute things anymore?", the puppy eyes were back.
I sighed and got up "Maybe try and get to know me again before smothering me in romantic gestures"
It sounded meaner than intended but this hadn't been the first incident this week and it was overwhelming me. As nice and caring as Jackson was, I felt so pressured to like him back, to act as if he was never gone. And that wasn't right.
