It wasn’t long enough before we all had our fingers on the Planchette, repeating the chant for the third time. Suddenly, the Planchette moved to the letter “I”. “Edwin, cut it out.” Caroline said angrily. “It wasn’t me!” Edwin replied. The two kept arguing while the Planchette kept moving. “Guys, it just spelled I C U.” Rebecca said in a low, scared voice.

“What do they mean by I C U?” Amanda asked, confusion plastered on her face.

It took me a moment to realize what they meant, so I picked up the Planchette, taking in my surroundings through the little hole. I scanned our little circle, and that’s when I swallowed the lump in my throat. She was there, Isabelle. Watching me with a lifeless expression. She was wearing a white dress covered in blood, her pale face staring at me with no expression at all.

“What did you see? You look like you just saw a ghost.” Edwin said in a mocking tone. Isabelle shushed me by placing a finger to her lips. “It’s nothing. It’s getting late, we need to get going.” I said, returning the Planchette to it’s original place.

“Nothing? I just flew to the freaking wall and you call that nothing?!” Edwin snapped. “Our life is on the line here,” Rebecca said seriously. “Whatever, I need to do my math homework anyway.” I replied coldly while getting up, hoping that they believed my stupid excuse.

“So you’re just going to leave and believe that nothing happened?” Caroline asked. “Did you see something?” “What happened?” “If we don’t continue, you’ll regret it later.”
