After having ten fingers on the Planchette, we began the ritual. We all said in one clear voice, “As friends we gather, our hearts are true, the spirits near we call to you.” We all stared at each other in silence, waiting for something to happen, until Edwin broke the silence. “Nothing happened, it’s just a stupid game.” He said with a scoff. Within seconds, Edwin flew to the wall, making us all scream in panic. Then, reality hit us in the face. This isn’t just a game, there’s more to it than what we thought.

“Oh my god, Edwin! Are you okay?” Amanda asked in utter shock.

“Other than peeing my pants, I think I may have a minor concussion.” Edwin said while breathing heavily. He gets back on the floor, joining our little circle.

“Guys, this is serious. There’s no going back.” Rebecca said in a serious tone. “We started this, and we need to find a way to get out of this mess.” Amanda replied. “The only way out of this mess would be to continue the ritual.” Caroline said. “Let’s just get this over with,” I said in a scared yet serious tone.

We placed our fingers, repeating the chant for the second time. This time, nothing happened. “Maybe we need to place something that belongs to her.” I suggested. “Oh, I have a framed photo right over there.” Edwin said, getting up to walk over to the little table. He removes the picture from the frame and places it at the edge of the board.

“I remember that day like it was yesterday,” Rebecca said. “Come on guys, time’s running out.” Amanda said, placing her fingers on the Planchette.
