Hi guys!! Sorry for the late update but like I said in my introduction page, I do go to boarding school so the updates might be irregular but I promise to update as much as I can when I get back home!!
Without further a-do . . .
Here's another chapter!
I turned off the water and wrapped a towel around my waist before stepping out of the shower. I was getting ready for a lunch with Candice and my parents at some top notch restaurant while in all honesty I would rather just stay in and relax or drive over to Olivia's and watch a movie. But that's not how it works.I used another towel to dry myself and walked out of the bathroom.
Shit! Fuck!
The sight in front of me made my blood run cold. Candy had her back turned to me was holding my phone to her ear and was talking to someone.
Before my mind could guess who it was my feet moved towards Candy on their own accord and I snatched the phone from her grasp. I hang up the phone without looking at the caller ID and felt the dread leave me and the anger settle in.
"What are you doing with my phone Candy?!" I unintentionally bellowed at her when she turned back to face me with a glare and look filled with curiosity on her face.
"Who was the woman that was calling you?!" Candy isn't a woman to back down and so when she shouts back at me I know that this is headed for another one of our screaming matches.
"I wouldn't know because you answered my phone Candice – "
"A woman called saying that she was looking for Eric? Who is it?"
I felt the dread that left come back with full force as I searched every part of my brain part of my brain for a believable lie to tell her, because this shit can't come out like this. Not because of a god damned phone call. "I don't know! Maybe someone who got the number wrong. Cause last I checked I am not Eric!"
The icy glare that was etched on her face melted into an apologetic one that made the guilt weighing on me heavier. When will this end? I am so tired of living a double life.
"Then why did you get so defensive huh?" She asked with crossed arms and judgement written all over her face.
"Because I like to keep my private life private Candy and you know that"
She held her tongue this time and I don't know if it's because she really didn't have anything to answer me or because she was also as exhausted with all this friction between us like I was.
"If we are done with the interrogation detective, I would like to get ready for the lunch with my parents"
I didn't wait for her answer, turned on my heel and headed to my walk in closet. Once I shut the door I exhaled and waked over to my mirror and looked at the man staring back at me. When did it get this bad? What the fuck happened?
I checked the phone that was held in my hand with a vice-like grip and checked the call logs. And there it was the last incoming call – the same one that Candy was talking to – was Olivia.
"Fuck!"
I can't call her right now. God knows how many questions are swirling in her head – questions she has every right to ask – but I can't bring myself to answer.
Cause you're a fucking coward. You are just like her father and when she finds out the truth about you she will resent you just like she resents her father, maybe even more.
I didn't shut the voice out because I know that it's true, that she will hate me once she finds out but hearing them doesn't make it any easier, doesn't lessen the guilt and doesn't take away the constant fear and dread because at this point I don't think that I can honestly be without her.
