When I was younger birthdays used to be everything, I used to want the perfect party. The day wasn't always about the get together with my friends and the fact that I was indeed getting older. It was all about the presents I would receive and how many I got, but there is a stage where you grow out of wanting all the presents and you do relise that the get together is the most important. Who am I kidding presents are good....
The thing I love about birthdays, is the fact that you get to be popular and special for the day and guess what? It's my Birthday i'm 17 Yay...do you sense the sarcasm. I don't feel any different then I was yesterday so...what's so special you may ask? Well nothing. Nothing except the fact that right now i'm sun tanning on the beach with my 3 best friends, talking about and perving on the hot and shirtless guys playing volleyball over to the left.
Yep sun and hot guys, the perks of having your birthday in the summer holidays. I'm never gonna get enough of this and I already feel my tan coming along.
I have my party in a few hours time so I suggested to pack up so we can get ready for the party that is going to be held and my house. Another thing that we have to set up. Sometimes I wish that I had somebody to do it for me but I made that mistake a long time ago...anyways I guess we're going to have to go now.
We walked up the sand dunes with all of our beach stuff that mostly consisted of towels and sunscreen not to mention the boogie boards. We arrived at the car park and went straight to our cars. I came with Kendall as it would of been a hazard driving four cars out, when we were all going to the same place. Kendall and I had to go pick up a few things from the shops to prepare for the party so we told the rest of the girls to drive on without us.
We arrived at IGA and I told Kendall I would be back I had to get the drinks for tonight plus the chips and dip. Kendall said she was going to go buy the bread from the bakery down the road. So we separated and each bought our own things. We met up again after purchasing what we needed and hopped back into the car.
Kendall went to start the ignition, when the car started making a choking noise. You have got to be kidding me! Out of all days you choose today when I clearly have things to do. Man I new I was unlucky but really this is just, no. I have officially stepped up a notch of unluckiness. If being unlucky was a competition I would be winning right now cause, shows like that were meant for people like me.
"Crap what the hell are we supposed to do now?" Kendall hit the steering wheel lightly while leaning her head on it in defeat."And you suppose I have an answer?" I said flustered grabbing my phone thinking of calling NRMA or something."I'm going to call Luci." I dialed her number hoping someone would pick up."Hello?" I sighed with relief."Thank the Lord hey Luc we are stuck at IGA the car just stopped working I don't even know what happened." I kept on ranting about the party and getting ready I was beginning to get real anxious.
"Don't worry Kinz we're getting somebody down there to help right now and don't worry about the party you'll make it on time."
I really hope I did, what kind of birthday girl is late to her own party. Luci and I spoke for a few minutes, she tried soothing me while I was ranting but in the end we decided the party must go on. We hung up after a few more soothing words like 'you'll be fine' and 'everything's going to be ok'. All I was worried about was the fact that
1. The party needed working on because quite frankly we hadn't even started setting up yet and
2. there weren't that many people out here and it was starting to get on the creepy side, I honestly felt like someone was watching me.
You know that paranoia feeling yeah well i'm getting that right now, and it wasn't good , so much for it being the afternoon and being a crowd place.
Kendall and I sat there talking about what we were going to do next week. We started planning shopping trips and not to mention the beach trips before summer vacation was over and senior year hit us in the face.
20 minutes later and a tow truck arrived and they helped us tow the car to the car repair to get it fixed while Kendall and I hired a car to drive back home. Lucinda and I already planned that the party won't start until later on which gave me time to prepare myself.
When we got back to my house, I was in the biggest rush so caught up in my own world that I didn't even relise how unusually quiet it was.
Not until I walked into the house, asked Kendall to lock the door, while I loaded the things into the fridge in the garage, walked into the lounge room then BANG!
