I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous. Being a Hibari wasn't easy, especially since I hadn't inherited my brother's fighting prowess. Still, it didn't mean that people messed with me–most of the time anyway–though some were still dumb enough to think they could get away with it.

"Kira, time to go."

"Coming!"

Bag slung over my left shoulder, I closed and locked my bedroom door before quickly making my way downstairs to see Kyoya holding the front door open, patient and expectant. As I stepped through, it clicked behind me and I turned just in time to catch a lunchbox tossed at my chest.

"We'll get breakfast later."

"Can we get crepes?" I jogged a bit to catch up to his longer strides. I had been binge watching cooking shows and had a real hankering for something sweet now.

"Where would we get crepes?"

"Well..." I mustered up my best puppy eyes as he side-eyed me. "Mom said I could use her card for whatever... so, delivery?"

Kyoya just rolled his eyes and a hand was in my hair, ruffling it into even more of a bird's nest. "Fine, I'll allow it."

"Hey! Stop it!" I halfheartedly batted at his hand to no avail, my protest did however elicit a quiet chuckle from him. "I'm not going to school like this."

"You have time to fix it."

"No!" I finally managed to snatch his wrist in my left hand and blocked his path. "You have to do it now. I don't even have a mirror..."

"Hmmm..."

Sure, we were early so he could tend to his club activities, but there would still be people around, not only at school but on the road too. I felt my anxiety starting to build.

"Kyoyaaa~" My lips began to press into a pout against my will, but he seemed to have caught on to my discomfort and I felt his arm lifting.

"Alright, I got it."

As much as people were afraid of him–for good reason, I suppose–I just couldn't see it. I mean, I understood, but to me he was my overprotective brother who I don't recall having hurt me even once in my life.

I stood there patiently with my bento in both hands as he smoothed my hair back into place. Part of the reason I wanted him to do it was because I like having my hair touched, especially if it was Kyoya. Maybe it was a bit of idol worship, but of all the people who deserve this status, it was him. I couldn't help but smile and lean into it, nearly nuzzling his neck in the open street.

"Done."

His voice was so much deeper than mine. I once heard a girl describe it as black silk and after I told him about it he said to not pay attention to that crap. I patted my head lightly to check and it feel better. "You sure?"

"Yes, I wouldn't let a Hibari run around a hot mess."

I stuck my tongue out at him for the blatant lie as he was more than happy to let that happen a minute ago and spun on my heel, marching towards school purposefully. Sometimes I think he does it on purpose to rile me up (I overheard him on the phone with dad talking about making me into a fighter or something).

"Race you to the gate!"

The response I got after I took off five seconds in was a tap on the shoulder. I yelped in surprise and laughed before speeding up. Kyoya, of course, kept matching my speed and tapping my shoulder. He only pulled ahead when we were a few meters away from the gate. If he was in a really good mood, he'd even consider letting me win.
