A dull throbbing in my head was the first thing I noticed as I woke. The second was someone gripping my shoulder, propping me up against a cold wall.
"He's awake!"
My eyes opened slowly, my vision unfocused, images of a blond criss crossing. My brain was going to be permanently damaged at this rate. The ringing in my ear increased as the boy screamed something into my right ear, laughing-cackling as I cringed away. My escape was cut short by a tug of a cold chain around my wrists, securing me to half a meter of movement range.
Two more showed up but I ignored all of them whilst memorizing as much as I could. The blond's name was Ken, their ringleader Mukuro, and the guy in charge of me Chikusa. There was a mark on my left arm, possibly a needle. Next, they'll try to interrogate me. Failing that, I could be tortured.
"Don't think just because you're scrawny we're going to go easy on you. You surprised us y' know. Cutting up my subordinates like that."
l did? Feigning disinterest, I kept my head low, pretending to be in too much pain to listen. They didn't fall for it.
A foot connected with my stomach, wrenching a pained grunt out of me. So it begins.

The night Kira went missing sent Hibari into a frenzied panic. After he finished screaming at his parents for their incompetence, something he hadn't done since he drove them away, he sent out every DC member on a manhunt, joining them after completing a police report.
Days passed with no progress. Everyone grew increasingly anxious as Hibari became more unhinged. There was a cold fury about him no one dared approach. He needed help, and with the police already searching it became clear that wasn't the right type of help.
Kusakabe wrecked his brain for who they could turn to. His president would never admit he needed help no matter how exhausted he became. Hibari hadn't been sleeping, barely eating, only speaking to anyone to give out orders. Even without his orders, the DC would search far and wide for Kira, not for the sake of their president or trying to earn points with him, but because they were truly fond of Kira.
The problem stemmed from his lack of knowledge on Kira; who his friends were, places he might have frequented... but Hibari would've already checked that, right? No. He was too panicked and not in his right mind. Today was a rare rest day as his president finally passed out on the fourth day, assigning Kusakabe to do further research in his stead.
He started by asking Kira's classmates, not hoping for much but somehow got lucky when he met the most unassuming boy. This boy was basically Kira's only friend, and he was worried sick too. Recently, he got a lead. Kusakabe didn't bother asking how, just what.
It had been a day over a week since Kira went missing. The likelihood of recovering him decreased exponentially with each passing day. Hibari should be in good enough shape now to tackle it. He texted him the details, not leaving out that Sawada's group would be going too.
"You guys better move fast. Knowing the chairman, he's on his way now." He didn't need to say that they were going for the kidnapper's protection. Hibari would definitely kill them all. But it wasn't his place to dole out justice. They had to contact the police.
Police.
Should he tell them the location now or...
This was the hardest decision of Kusakabe Tetsuya's life yet.
If the police saw Hibari beating the ever living crap out of the kidnappers, he could be shot. On the other hand he could go to jail.
God damn it. He'd just have to trust Sawada. For now he had to round up the rest of the DC members then head there themselves.
