"So do you know if there's any time that you could come to the mall with Sara and I?" Emma asks. I hesitate and think hard, searching my mind for a good lie or excuse.
"Well, um, I can't this weekend because my aunt is coming back from, um... Iceland. Yeah; Iceland." "She's been in Iceland for eight months and we want to throw her a welcome back party." I smile; trying to look more honest than I sounded.
"Well are you sure? I think it would be way more fun to come with us." She's starting to pry. Little did I know she was beginning to pry away at my sanity. So I decide to change the subject.
"So, when did you meet Sara?"
"Well! We met in kindergarten. A girl named Emilia introduced us and we have been best friends ever since!" She's beaming.
"That's great..." I say.
"Yeah I know!" And then she sashays away.
Then I see a boy. With beautiful green eyes and short brown hair. He has some sort of edge to him but also has a look of class and sophistication. He's walking towards me with his thumbs in the back pockets of his jeans and shoulders caving in.
"Hey. My name's Brett, your new here? Am I right?" He speaks in a low, quiet tone; almost like a whisper.
"Yeah I'm new here." I say, gazing deep into his beautiful green eyes; hoping I'm not being totally awkward.
"Well one of the reasons why I'm here to introduce myself is because my friend Jacob and I are planning on making a band and we need a badass keyboard player." "I heard you playing piano in the music room yesterday afternoon and we think that you would be the perfect fit." He gestures over to a boy with larger build and in a team Canada hockey jersey.
"Sure, I'd love to be in your band." I say. This is the happiest I've been all week.
"Cool, how about free period tomorrow?"
"Of course." I reply.
