We all live under a mask in some way shape or form, we wear disguises fearing what might happen if our true selves were revealed to the public. Life is a terrifying thing and somehow we power that. We as a society make living such a bloodcurdling, and hair rising task. Why do we hide under a mask? Out of our fear, fear of ourselves and fear of each other. We ridicule those brave enough to stand up to society and show their true selves. Yet at the same time, we envy them for being strong enough to show themselves. In all humanity would be the villain in a story. Not only do we hurt other species but we hurt our own. We bring pain and agony to everything we touch creating a world full of sorrows. Why is it that we want to make life better for ourselves yet we only make it worse? Where did our masks originate and why do we need them? I don't know where they come from but I certainly know why they're used. My mask hides the brokenness of my life with that of my imagination reflecting to everyone a so-called "Perfect Life".
"Well I guess that's enough writing for today," Chantell thought to herself.
"Sweetheart dinners ready," Mum said with the sweetest tone in her voice.
"I'm not really hungry," Chantell said with a quiet tone in her voice, seemingly telling herself that rather than her mom.
"Okay dear I'll put yours in the fridge, you can eat it later," Mom said never losing the gentle tone of voice.
Moms the kind of person you feel like you can always go to, willing to listen, sweet, caring, and most importantly understanding. Well, that's what her mask is projecting to the world. If you've ever heard her talk to father then you'd understand. My mum loses her mask ever so often when it's just us three, however she tries very hard to keep it on in front of me.
