We walked through so many hallways, that the Academy began to look like a maze. We saw where the English and Arts building was, Mathematics and Sciences building, the library (which was huge!), and the student commons, which had a lounge area, study area, computers, game room, cinema room, and huge ballroom for parties and banquets. We also saw where the gymnasium and activities center was. "Here at the activity center, we have state-of-the-art exercise machines, studios for yoga, cross-fit, martial arts, and kickboxing. We also own two Olympic-sized swimming pools and a recreational swimming pool that includes five Jacques, picnic areas, and snack bars. We have five fields for you all for football, soccer, baseball, and softball, as well as a tennis court. Inside the gymnasium you can play basketball and volleyball. All these areas are open for use before the first class of the day and after the scheduled hour for tutoring for those who need it. We do ask that you refrain from using these areas between the hours of 10 pm and 4 am," Yates said, "Here we have the administration offices, which you entered upon your arrival to the Academy. As you know, we have an auditorium here, as well as three smaller ones for any events where we have guest speakers present. Instructor offices are located here, as well as Director Tooley's office. May you never get sent to her office. Most times when students are called, it is due to some bad news she has to share to a student from home, or other business that is not disciplinary related. We also have our security office here. Inside are the monitors for the cameras located throughout the campus."
"We need to locate all the cameras here to find any dark zones that we can escape through," I whispered to Elana. She nodded in agreement. We continued walking as Mrs. Yates started talking about the Academy's history, its founders, and all other unnecessary details. Suddenly, the smell of delicious bread filled the air. "Ah, we must be near the student dining building. Today's menu is chicken Parmesan, with a side of steamed broccoli, choice of fruit, garlic rolls, and a choice of dessert of either berry parfait, key lime pie, or a delicacy of Hispanic cultures of tres leches. I shall leave you here, I hope you can find the way back to your dorms," Mr. Yates stated, then turned to walk away.
"No ones tres leches is better than your grandma's Stella," Elana said.
"I know. As soon as he said tres leches, my ears perked up and I swear I smelt it," I replied.
"Did your grandma ever teach you how to make it," Chase asked.
"She did, but if you're asking because you want me to make you some, I'll have to disappoint you and tell you that I will never make it for you, even in Hell."
The other teens in our group started "ooh"-ing and laughing at that.
"She burned you good, man," Jackson said.
"Dude, shut up. Why can't a guy just make a simple request from his future bride," Chase said, annoyed. I just rolled my eyes and walked into the dining room with Elana.
"I am seriously going to kill him one day. Why the hell did I get stuck with him? Was it just completely random, or was there some type of matchmaker system to pair us," I complained.
"I really don't know. Arthur is nice, but maybe a little too nice. Like, he gives me this nerdy vibe. Not that sexy, cute guy nerdy. The boil-faced, thick-rimmed glasses, greasy hair, and braces nerdy. Yuck. If I got to choose who I'd want to be stuck with my whole life, I'd rather it be you," Elana said.
"Ditto. No one else in the world can replace you," I said, hugging her.
"C'mon, let's get our plates."
