Red sighed as she carried her basket of food towards the woods, heading for her grandmother's cabin. They didn't have much money, but Red was able to gain a bit of money from selling flowers and meat from her hunts. The townsfolk whispered amongst themselves as she walked past them. Red ignored the attention she was getting, having been used to it by now.
"I heard she turns into a monster."
"Well I heard that she once killed a man over a dog."
"A dog?!"
Red smirked, thankful that her hood covered her face and that her bangs hid her eyes. The rumors were always interesting to Red, as she was always one to love when people are in pain. She rolled her eyes at the stupid people and started walking along the path to her home.
"It isn't nice to be spreading rumors about people you know nothing about," She called over her shoulder, not at all bothered. She continued on her merry way down the path.

"Granny, I'm back!" Red called out, taking the hood off her face. She placed the basket on the counter in the kitchen and went to her granny's room.
The grey-haired seventy-year-old grandmother was sitting up in bed with her knitting kit. She looked up at her granddaughter and smiled brightly. "How was town?" She asked with curiosity.
"The usual; whispering and assumptions about me." Red shrugged, not caring much about it.
Her granny sighed softly and motioned for the girl to sit next to her. Red sat on the edge of the bed, wrapping her cloak around her.
"Red, I know it might seem like you're different, but they don't understand..." Granny spoke softly. She brushed her fingers against her granddaughter's cheek gently. Red leaned into the touch, closing her eyes with a hum. "But you're a special girl, Red, and I vow to protect you until I'm no longer on this earth.."
Red's eyes snapped open, a scared expression settling on her face. "Please don't leave me Granny. I need you..." Red pleaded.
"Red, you know as well as I that my time is coming soon.." Her grandmother stated softly. She moved Red's bangs out of her face and gave the girl a kiss on her forehead.
Red looked up at the elderly woman with tears in her eyes. "I love you Granny.." She murmured. "I'll make you something special for dinner tonight.."
Red hugged her granny, then left the room. She planned on making the best dinner ever.
