Nick was an average guy. He woke up, went to work, went back home and that routine repeated daily. Nick didn't have a family because he believed that he could do anything by himself, he never asked anyone for help. On Nick's day off his boss decided to call him and tell Nick to come into work due to the amount of people calling in sick. At first Nick denied, until his boss promised extra pay. Nick got ready, got in his car, and drove off to work. Nick signed in as he entered his office and of coarse said hi to his one and only friend, Louis. As the day went on slower and slower Nick wished he didn't accept the offer but money was always the first thing on his mind. Finally, it was lunch time for Nick. Nick grabbed his lunch and sat in the lunch room on his phone, he was reading an article about the sickness going around the city. One of Nick's co-workers who walked in the lunch room asked Nick for a favor.

"Nick, could you print out three copies of these files and give them to the boss?" The man asked.

"What's in it for me?" Nick questioned in response.

"What ever you want I guess." The man laughed placed the packet on the table next to Nick's food.

"I'll think of something." Nick smiled as the man walked out.

After Nick was done with his lunch he walked down to the copy machine room and did what he was asked to do. The packet was copies and placed into three files. Nick left the room and walked to the boss's office.

Nick walks in his boss's room looking at his copies he has made.

"Sir, I got the papers you..." Nick paused half sentence in shock.

Nick's boss was kneeling over the co-worker's body from earlier eating out his organs. Nick's boss stopped eating the body and looks up at Nick with a loud roar. Nick panicked and rushed out of the room as his boss chased after. As Nick was running he bumped into one of a fellow work causing the worker to drop his papers. Nick yelled at the worker to run but he didn't and looked at Nick weirdly. The infected boss jumped lunging his body at the worker picking up his papers. The boss started to eat away at the bloody worker's body.

Nick barged into his work station.

"Louis! We have to leave, I think there might be an actual zombie apocalypse going on!" Nick warned his partner.

"Stop bullshitting me." Louis started to laugh.

"Stop laughing! Come see for yourself." Nick grabbed Louis pulling him out in the hall.

Louis starred thinking that this is a dream. All they could see was beast like people who were once their co workers are now ripping each other apart.

"Shit!" Louis said pulling Nick back into the room.

"Here I placed two guns in this safe just in case we were ever robbed." Louis said putting in a code to unlock a safe.

"Uh?" Nick looked at Louis with confusion.

"Don't look at me like that, at least I've came prepared. Just make sure you know how to last with just a clip of ammunition." Louis said handing Nick a gun.

"Ready?" Nick asked ready to leave.

"You didn't even make a plan to escape." Louis stated.

"Shut up and follow me, I've got a plan." Nick said opening the door.

They both snuck around quietly avoiding contact with any of the zombies. As they were walking around the dead bodies the saw the sign that led to the stairs. Nick and Louis heading in the direction came in counter with their boss. They boss made a loud roar again, causing the other infected workers to put focus on Nick and Louis.

Nick raised his gun to his boss's head and said "Shut up for god sakes."

*Bang* the body fell. Nick and Louis looked back to find the infected workers running down the hall. Nick began to run as Louis followed. Nick barged opened the door and started to run down the stairs. Louis and Nick ran down six flights of stairs until getting into the parking lot. Nick pointed out his car and started to head in that direction. As they were running the zombies eventually came down the stairs and headed towards Nick and Louis. One zombie caught up to Louis and threw him onto a car causing the car alarm to go off. Nick turned around and shot the zombie off. Before getting to Nick's car there was a horde coming from that direction. Louis made a quick right leading to the second floor of the parking lot.

"C'mon! This leads to my car!" Louis yelled telling Nick to follow.

Nick ran up with Louis, Louis looked back to see a swarm of zombies running up the slanted road.

"There! There's my car!" Louis pointed.

The two got the the car and got in. Louis stuck the keys in the car and started the engine. Instead of going right and then down the ramp where all the zombies were, Louis decided to take a short cut. Louis made a left and broke the concrete railing off the second floor, in the air, then landing on the road. The city was gone to chaos, cars where smashed into polls, people are running away from family member trying to rip them apart. This use to be a nice neighborhood. Nick told Louis to make a left leading to the highway to leave town but Louis knew that the smart way was to avoid places with a lot of people. Louis found a long road leading away from town but towards the country side. It's been quiet for awhile, probably due to all the blood and chaos Nick and Louis saw in one day left them in shock. The car suddenly started to slow down then eventually ran out of gas.

"Shit!" Louis slammed his hands on the steering wheel.

"Great, let's start walking." Nick suggested as he got out of the car.

Both of them checked their guns to see how much ammunition they had. Both had at least seven to eight bullets left to last them a little longer. As they were walking Louis heard a car engine coming from a distance.

"I hear something." Louis said turning around.

A truck was speeding down the street towards their location. Nick threw his arms in the air.

"Hey over here!" Yelled Nick.

The car began to slow down, then to a complete stop.

"We're not one of those things!" Yelled Nick in addition.

A man with in a band t-shirt and a hat rolled down his window. "Are any of you bitten?" Questioned a young woman with a red hoodie.

"No, this isn't our blood, I swear." Said Louis.

"My name is Ellis and this is my sister, Zoey." Ellis introduced themselves. "We thought we were the only ones alive."

"We know the feeling" Nick added.

"Get in the back." Zoey kindly told them to join the group.

Nick and Louis got on the back of the truck to find a man sleeping.

"Don't worry he's not infected." Stated Ellis.

Zoey drove off down the street in search of a place to sleep or eat. After an hour or two they came in sight of a hotel. The group pulled the vehicle in the parking lot and searched for any infected people first to be safe. Lucky for them there was none. There was some chips and someone's lunch that contained two sandwiches and a bottle of water. The five of them got a room and spilt the food evenly and decided to take a nap for the night and make a new journey in the morning.
