xxx. CORNELIUS DIMITAR PETROV, widely known as his alias Corey Pierce, was born a tribrid. Part werewolf, vampire, and witch all wrapped together into one boy.

Corey never understood where these parts of him came from other than his vampire side which he inherited from his vampire mother, Katherine Pierce, who didn't know how to explain or help him understand these other sides of him. Corey learned and perfected controlling his vampire side but he barely even grasped the basic of his potential when it came to his witch and werewolf sides.

This made Corey yearn for his father, the man he had never met, who would be able help him finally accept and control these other parts of himself. His mother refused to discuss the man who fathered Corey, only telling him that they were on the run from him and that's why they never stayed in one place too long. It made Corey feel guilty for wanting to meet his father, so he buried that want deep inside of himself.

He had gotten a few experiences with witches who aided him in understanding his witch side. One of these witches being Emily Bennett, who had started to tutor him before they traveled to Mystic Falls in 1864 when everything changed for him. He also got help from a witch named Gloria in the 1920's, but that had been brief.

Corey spent his entire life without any knowledge of his father or his paternal family, hell, not even anything about his maternal family, until his mother later revealed the truth to him and his mother's doppelgänger, Elena Gilbert.

His father was a very old vampire named Klaus who wanted to break this 'Sun and Moon Curse' that a lot of supernatural creatures were trying to break as well. It required the blood of the human Petrova doppelgänger, enough to kill them, it order to work.

This was how he met Katherine, she had once been the human Petrova doppelgänger that he needed, tricking her into a romance to keep her close until he could break the curse. Katherine found out and turned herself into a vampire which made her useless. That's why she was on the run from him, that and she unknowingly became pregnant with his kid due to some loophole caused by her being the Petrova doppelgänger.

Corey finally got what he wanted, information about his biological father, though he instantly regretted his curiosity when he realizes that he was an evil guy who wanted his mother and one of his best friends dead.
