In the valley of assumptions everyones seen that movie and it really sucked.
I went thru a time when working in academia amongst intellectual property and a vast trove of humorless lawyers and smarty pant Phd's where I doodled cartoons every day.
Often my super skill of sarcasm and humor and mad relevance for the obvious come together in times of stress.
Two people stand in front of a movie marke. The title of the film is called "Assumptions". One says to the other- "I've seen this movie.. it sucked."
That's it. The joke is that assumptions are just that, assumptions. In starting everyone uses assumptions, notions to get them by. Would be futures yet to be decided if accurate.
While assumptions are just that, substandard thinking of how we think things work they are quite handy at times. The mind computes the pattern, it connects the dots and alerts delusion that you could be on to something. Without assumptions we'd be in stuck state of on or off. Assumptions provide that constant middle ground of.. maybe this.
When it comes to people we're filled with notions. We think about right and wrong, just and ill will. Good and evil are confusing in todays modern society. Good is not really as good as we think any more. Society often informs us of the nature of vulnerability of evil, but of how it can free us for a limited time, and relishing in the good we acquire after it.
Ying and yang, perhaps thats it.
Balance.
Notions are bit like navigation tools, a sense of progress and progression thru would be assumed known aspects or inference. I love that word, to infer. To get four data points and infer a hundred. Seems crazy to bet on that, but every day every one of us is doing that kind of math. Projecting the odds as if we have control, as if we have the ability to truly course correct.
Luck comes into play often.
We like to think we make our luck. A river of chance, designed by us for us with a full notion aspect of its richness.
I often feel that certain personality types or people can literally manifest luck on demand. Like potion, a magic effect. Of course hollywood would warn us that for every aspect of magical control there is the perils of true nature, balance will correct you in time, are you ready?
I sometimes think, I need a bit of error to insure my win of something right was justified.
My sense of worth is showing again.
My notion of me, its oh so present.
