Mindsets

Google dictionary informs me that a mindset is "the established set of attitudes held by someone", thats a nice clean definition of the word.

Established attitudes, earned, gained, derived from your environment, the experience you had, the knowledge and bias achieved.

Held is a key aspect of that definition.

I always believe that your mindset betrays you.  It reveals who you are and provides 75% of the would be future that you'll likely occur.  The last 25% of fate is at the will of the gods, or luck, or magic, or something we can't explain, like nature.

So your mindset provides that internal navigation.  It emboldens your affordance for risk, your perception of good and evil, it allows you to carry the lie.

Telling lies isn't hard, its living with them.

I often think humanity is basically a kind of machine.  An organic machine, a mechanism.  Our bodies are complicated but do the cells in our body distinguish themselves by will, or is that in our hearts and minds?  Are we merely a passenger of this vessel?  Our life force is it the body itself or what we will it to be?

Perhaps we are born and encased in this form for now.  One big role playing game.

A mindset in starting up, building a tech venture is serious thing.  Starting anything requires varied mindsets.  I tend to lean toward the ones that want to learn, optimize, improve, empower.  I like to think my mindsets are better, they're not.  A mindset of power, bullying, trampling the norms - they often get the same results.

Cash sits in the park and watches the mindsets fall over themselves as they eagerly propose the hand of marriage to would be buck on a park bench.

I wish I could escape the analytical side of me at times.  Too predictable, boring.  The emotional side of me paints in a room full of color and discord.  The right to feel more valuable than anything.  My confidence varies in the message.

I should be defining the many mindsets you need.  This book should be a guide but so far all you've gotten is a few deep words and some zingers. Are you still reading?  Is your mindset allowing you to endure?

How many people recognize the notion of a mindset in the first place I wonder?

I like the deep track.  I like to think if I can understand the mindset of someone, I'm one step closer to the their realness, exposed in all its glory on the great stage of understanding.  That hall of wisdom, wonder and fragile complexity.

There it goes again.

Dark Side of the Moon.

I've been listening to a lot of Pink Floyd lately.  I used to attribute this album to depression, but now its more about reflection.  The re-association of music to memories and mindsets, this is a new super skill for me.  A song that used to trigger a specific person or feeling, I've learned to recalibrate it in my mind to something else.

Reprogramming yourself.

I used to think that was the act of religion or great cinema. But now I get it, it can be done.

The Dark Side of the Moon prompts some great reflection while at same time with every listen I isolate the instruments and discovering the subtle uniqueness in the recording.

Projectional tuning- sure I just made that up, but it makes me think I could project myself into 1969 or so when this album was being created.  I could project myself into the band members, I could think and feel as they did making this element isolated from the others and wonder what they felt, what their mindset was making it.

nft joke here

Many people call this empathy.  Perhaps I'm an empath.  I hate the word really.  Its overused in design.  We have empathic to understand people, we have to channel them, live with them, understand them with deep feeling.  My aggression to word is not because of this core attribute but because often designers prevent tinkers like me to start anything without first being empathic in regards to the user.  I get that, but i don't HAVE to do that.

I am after all, a user myself.  Cannot I simply design for me?

Or better yet, throw true caution to the wind and just fucking invent for the fuck of it?  Must I use yet another mindset approach to doing this in a certain way?  Why do we adhere to order as if its an answer when its simply another mindset approach to doing something.

Embrace the chaos.

Invoke the random chaotic order.  Celebrate madness.
